Jenny Powell reveals her Morocco holiday nightmare after her flight is cancelled following five and a half hour wait at the airport with her elderly mother, 92
In a recent Instagram post on Monday, Jenny Powell shared her distressing experience of being stranded at the airport for approximately five and a half hours during her vacation in Morocco.
56-year-old celebrity from Wheel of Fortune spent the winter vacation with her 92-year-old mom, as well as daughters Constance (age 22) and Pollyanna (age 14).
However, her return trip didn’t go as planned, as the TV personality found herself dealing with a cancelled easyJet flight following a prolonged delay, which she shared on social media.
At approximately 10pm local time, Jenny shared with her followers: ‘Indeed, as you all know, I’m quite patient and laid-back. However, the situation here in Agadier is unusual. My flight was supposed to depart around four hours ago, yet easyJet has provided absolutely no information at all from Agadier airport.’
“It’s unfortunate. With families including young children present, as well as an elderly person like my mom who is 92 years old, there isn’t even a single bottle of water available! No helpful information either – it’s just mind-blowing!
It appears that we’ve independently realized the flight has been canceled based on our observations of the tarmac. Frankly, EasyJet, we’re not pleased at all about this situation.
‘The least you can do with your passengers is tell them what’s going on.’
Approximately an hour past, Jenny provided another update, this time joined by her mother and a few companions.
She expressed her frustration, saying, “It’s become quite chaotic, isn’t it Louise? Chaos rules the day, really.
As your trusted lifestyle guide, I’ve been in this situation for a good five and a half hours now, hoping to make the evening news. Currently, I’m patiently waiting for the necessary officials to authenticate my already well-traveled passport, so I can finally step out of the airport and embark on my next adventure.
After locating our bags, it seems there’s a coach and possibly hotels, but we’ll take a taxi instead. It’s quite chaotic, isn’t it? Mum is handling things well, though she’s clearly not content.
I tried to make the sentence flow more smoothly while maintaining its original meaning and tone.
In their last post before departing, Jenny remarked: ‘Not a single soul or representative from easyJet at Agadir airport, as far as I can see.’
At the airport, there seems to be staff present, yet easyJet personnel are nowhere to be found. No announcements or instructions have been given, leaving us all standing in line, trying to exit the airport. The situation is based on rumors and it’s quite dreadful, to say the least.
I can hardly believe it! Not a single drink in sight, and everyone seems to be piling onto a coach, presumably to find a hotel room somewhere. EasyJet, you’ve left me utterly astonished! We’re all excited, giggling like school kids, but I won’t join in the fun – I’m too bewildered by this turn of events! What on earth is going on?
On Tuesday morning, Jenny revealed the ordeal had not finished in another Instagram post.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my current predicament: The tale unfolds yet again, and remarkably, Myra – my beacon of positivity – continues to light up the world with her radiant smile. Alas, we find ourselves stranded in Agadier, our journey disrupted as easyJet’s flight was grounded. I must admit, I am far from content, and though the words of apology from easyJet are yet to reach my ears, I eagerly await them for all those who share this unexpected detour with me.
It seems like it was around noon when we returned to Agadier, our hotel. The sun’s shining, but everyone’s advising against returning to the UK due to the poor weather. We’ll have breakfast and then continue on our journey.
Her last update came in a taxi headed to the airport to give her return home another go.
Just now, I received a notification from easyJet stating that the plane assigned for our flight is slightly smaller than expected. If someone is open to switching flights, they can receive €450 as compensation.
‘Today, we are heading to the airport as a group of four. If you’re looking for some excitement and have nothing better to do, feel free to join us on our journey. Let’s give it a catchy name like “Adventures in Agadier”. Thanks easyJet!’
TopMob has contacted EasyJet for comment.
On Monday, Jenny was basking in the winter sunlight and her mother appeared quite vibrant on Instagram, lounging by the pool in a collarless, translucent white top layered over a floral swimsuit.
In a different photo posted by Jenny, she appeared relaxed on an outdoor couch, donning a casual white crew-neck sweater and stylish glasses with a black frame in a rectangular shape.
Jenny captioned her post: ‘3 generation trip away! Nanny, Connie, Polly and me.
At 92 years old, I am a testament to the power of good genetics, a sturdy South African lineage, and the impact of maintaining mobility and embracing a vibrant outlook on life. It’s truly astonishing what a difference it makes – simply wow at 92!
Oh my goodness, @olivia_travelcounsellors, I can’t even begin to express my gratitude! You’ve managed to whisk three whole generations of us off on a fantastic journey into the warm embrace of the sun! It’s moments like these that make me realize just how much you care about creating unforgettable experiences for your clients. Kudos to you and your team!
On her Instagram story from the poolside, Jenny’s mom commented: ‘This vacation was incredibly restful, filled with kind and courteous individuals. It felt perfect for me; it wasn’t too much to handle. Simply put, it was spot-on for someone my age.’
Instead of wearing the Wheel of Fortune star’s hair in an intricate style, she let it cascade down as long, dark waves. She adorned herself with a vibrant turquoise top, and her makeup choices emphasized natural radiance, highlighting her inherent beauty.
Jenny, currently betrothed to Martin Lowe, has two kids born from her past relationship with businessman Toby Baxendale of the United Kingdom.
Last year, Jenny had a surgical removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) to alleviate her intense menopause symptoms, and she’s been very forthcoming in discussing this experience.
Looking back on her healing journey from last year, she encouraged other women to approach their own healing processes with care and attention. She also shared pictures of her healing scars as a testament to this experience.
She wrote: “A month has passed since my robotic hysterectomy, and I’m recovering nicely. I must admit, I’ve been touched beyond words by the outpouring of support from your responses to my posts and updates.
I’m organizing an event and establishing a community here, while simultaneously maintaining connections with many of you. Just wanted to let you know that taking time to heal and slow down is challenging work in its own right.
It has been challenging for me to set aside the daily tasks when working, at home, and playing. However, taking the necessary steps for recovery now is crucial; otherwise, it might cause problems in the future.
Ensure you’ve prepared a post-op plan, seeking appropriate guidance about hormones, HRT, self-care, and don’t hesitate to accept help when offered. Thank you, Mum, my girls, and everyone at work for your support! Fellow sisters, updates are on the way as we journey towards recovery. We’ve got this strength together!
