Jenny McCarthy reveals why she will NEVER return to The View… over a decade since her departure

Jenny McCarthy has stated she won’t be returning to The View, explaining openly the reasons behind her decision to leave the talk show.

Actress Jenny McCarthy, 53, recently shared details about difficulties she and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, experience in their intimate life. She talked about it on Tuesday’s episode of The Katie Miller podcast.

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when Holly Madison joined the cast of The View! She was one of the hosts during the show’s 17th season, which ran from 2013 to 2014. It was an interesting time, and she brought a unique perspective to the panel.

I remember when she first joined the show – she was alongside some incredible women like Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and the legendary Barbara Walters. It was a really exciting time!

McCarthy remembers being brought onto the talk show to create lighthearted, entertaining segments. However, the show soon shifted its focus to politics, something she hadn’t been involved in before.

The actress said she’d been asked to participate in reunion shows, but she immediately refused. ‘There’s no way I’d ever go back there,’ she explained.

The conversation started when the podcast host wondered if McCarthy would ever go back to being on The View.

The star explained they hired her because, as they put it, she was considered too divisive. They felt that way even before this, she added.

Although she was brought on as a fun commentator, particularly for shows like Dancing With The Stars, McCarthy said the job only lasted about a week.

At the time, I didn’t see myself as someone involved in politics, and that’s why I believed I’d be a good fit for the position.

She explained that when they expressed interest in discussing politics after a week, she felt panicked and wondered how she would handle the situation.

McCarthy acknowledged that transitioning to political commentary made the past year ‘very difficult’ for him.

The actress, known for her role in Scream 3, has spoken before about appearing on the talk show originally created by Barbara Walters in 1997.

In a 2018 interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the model shared that producers from The View had requested she portray herself as a Republican.

Oh my gosh, I was SO excited when they asked me to be the ‘pop culture girl’! They said they wanted to shake things up, but then poor Barbara… she just didn’t seem to know anyone who was current! It was honestly a little awkward, but I was just thrilled to be there, trying to fill her in on everything!

Someone asked me to pretend to be a Republican on TV just to offer a different perspective.

Last July, the celebrity revisited her brief time on The View during an interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM radio show.

The mom-of-one revealed that she had wanted to be fired and recalled, ‘They let all of us go.

I remember Sherri Shepherd coming to my dressing room in tears. She had just been let go, and she was understandably upset. It was a really difficult moment, and she shared the news with me right then and there.

After Shepherd was fired, McCarthy soon received a heads up that she was going to be next.

‘I’m like, “Thank God.” It was a massacre. They got rid of a bunch of people.’

On Thursday’s episode of her talk show, Sherri, Shepherd addressed recent comments made by Jenny McCarthy about The View.

Everyone knew Jenny McCarthy didn’t enjoy her time on The View. I specifically recall the day the show shifted its focus to politics – she immediately came to my dressing room, clearly upset.

She exclaimed, “Sherri, Oh my God, what am I going to do?” I asked her, “What are you going to do? What are we going to do?” Shepherd recalled.

I was really struck when the talk show host admitted that what McCarthy said was actually true. She then shared that she genuinely felt terrible for a friend of hers, and honestly, it really resonated with me.

They invited her onto the show because audience research indicated viewers were tired of political arguments. People wanted a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

You know, I always found it fascinating how Kellyanne Conway started wearing glasses on TV. She told me it was a deliberate choice – a way to project an image of being knowledgeable and ‘in the know’ about politics. It was a really interesting way to control her on-screen persona and signal expertise, even if it was just a visual cue!

I remember thinking, “How could they present someone named Playmate of the Year as conservative?” They attempted to tone down Jenny’s image, but she just came across as a very attractive, bookish woman.

Since leaving The View, Jenny McCarthy has remained active, working as a judge on The Masked Singer since 2019.

The fourteenth season of the show premiered on Fox this Wednesday, and the first episode featured a double elimination.

She also has a 23-year-old son named Evan with her former husband, John Asher. They were married from 1999 to 2005.

Jenny McCarthy married Donnie Wahlberg, Mark Wahlberg’s older brother, in 2014.
