Jennifer Love Hewitt officially returns for I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot

As a seasoned horror fan who’s grown up with the chilling tales of the 90s slashers, I must say, today feels like Christmas came early! The confirmation that Jennifer Love Hewitt is reprising her iconic role as Julie James in the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot is nothing short of thrilling.

Hey fellow horror enthusiasts! Exciting news for us all today, especially if you’re a fan of the classic “I Know What You Did Last Summer” movie. There’s been a lot of buzz about the upcoming remake, and it looks like we have some solid updates on casting.

A fantastic piece of news has emerged, only a week since hearing about the commencement of filming for the new movie. Hewitt is set to team up with original cast member Freddie Prinze Jr., who was confirmed in September to be returning. In his role as Ray Bronson, Julie’s boyfriend, Hewitt will continue his character. Both actors, Hewitt and Prinze Jr., previously appeared in the initial film, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and its sequel, “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

We’re eagerly awaiting one more original cast member to potentially join the reboot, and that’s Brandy Norwood. Known for her role as Karla in the 1998 sequel, there’s been a buzz about her involvement since August when Brandy herself mentioned receiving a call regarding the new project. However, we haven’t received confirmation yet that she’s officially on board. Here’s to hoping!

This group of actors – Hewitt, Prinze Jr., Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nicholas, Gabbriette, and Billy Campbell – is the current lineup for the film. Camila Mendes was initially set to appear in the movie but had to withdraw due to conflicts with her schedule earlier on.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Sam Lansky are penning the script for a movie that Jennifer is directing. Neal Moritz is producing the project, but details about its plot remain under wraps. What we do know is that this eagerly awaited reboot of a classic slasher will hit theaters on July 18, 2025. Be sure to mark your calendars!
