Jennifer Lopez's Unstoppable movie premiere in LA canceled due to wildfires and severe wind

Instead of holding a grand red-carpet event for the movie “Unstoppable,” featuring Jennifer Lopez, in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, Amazon MGM Studios decided to call it off.

A powerful windstorm, reaching over 100 miles per hour in certain spots, has affected the entire city. This violent wind sparked massive wildfires that burned across approximately 1,200 acres within the Pacific Palisades. As a result, thousands of people were compelled to leave their homes due to these uncontrolled fires.

At exactly 7 pm, the iconic 55-year-old pop star was primed to add a touch of glamour to the event taking place at the DGA Theater Complex in West Hollywood.

Jennifer was expected to have the company of Judy Robles (the character she played who is a mother of five), Anthony Robles (a renowned disabled wrestling champion), the director, William Goldenberg, as well as her co-stars Don Cheadle, Michael Peña, and Mykelti Williamson.

Although we were eager to share this amazingly uplifting movie with you, ensuring everyone’s safety comes before anything else,” the spokesperson from Amazon MGM Studios said in their message.

Don’t miss out! The exciting movie ‘Unstoppable’ arrives worldwide on Prime Video, starting January 16th. Thanks for your cooperation, and remember to take care of yourself!

In a different phrasing: The film “Unstoppable,” directed by Lopez’s former spouse Ben Affleck, garnered just £3,112 at the UK box office, but it has received an impressive 81% approval rating from critics out of 57 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

At the 36th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Impact Awards brunch last Saturday, the two-time Grammy nominee was recognized and awarded the Legend & Groundbreaker Prize for her exceptional emotional delivery in her performances.

Simultaneously, Mariel Haenn, Jennifer’s long-term stylist, shared videos depicting the extensive damage caused by wildfires, which were threatening her residence in Pacific Palisades.

On Tuesday, Haenn posted on Instagram Stories, ‘There’s a fire in the Palisades. Shout out if you require a safe haven.’

I feel incredibly upset. This situation is truly frightening. Many of my friends live in Palisades. Let’s hope for divine protection. Complete destruction lies ahead. The homes of our friends, the school of our children, and our entire community are at risk.

On Tuesday, some prominent figures from our community, including James Woods, Eugene Levy, Steve Guttenberg, and the Pratts (Spencer and Heidi), were among those evacuated from the Palisades.

In simple terms, Governor Gavin Newsom announced an emergency situation, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has given approval for a Fire Management Assistance Grant. This grant is designed to supply vital resources needed to combat the ongoing wildfire suppression efforts.

Universal Pictures opted to postpone the planned premiere of The Wolf Man, initially set for Tuesday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

In the horror reboot helmed by Leigh Whannell, which carries a budget of $7 million, the principal characters are portrayed by Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, and Matilda Firth. These actors play a family who face an unexpected ordeal when they are assaulted and become afflicted by an enigmatic creature in the state of Oregon.

Netflix also called off a Hollywood gathering honoring the music of Emilia Pérez, featuring songwriters/composers Camille & Clément and actress Karla Sofía Gascón.
