Jennifer Lopez revisited a difficult period in her personal life while kicking off her new Las Vegas residency, ‘The JLo Show: Up All Night Live,’ on Friday night.
The 56-year-old singer surprised the audience during her performance. Wearing a bright pink, sparkly outfit and a feather boa, she revealed she’d been considering quitting everything after her recent divorce from Marc Anthony, 57.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, parents to 18-year-old twins Max and Emme, separated in July 2011 after being married for seven years. Their divorce was finalized in June 2014.
In a video shared by @JPASC24, Jennifer Lopez spontaneously revealed a personal story, excitedly telling the audience she had ‘a little story’ to share.
She joked, ‘I finally became an expert after my third divorce,’ which got a big laugh and cheers from the crowd.
“That’s really not funny,” she said with a dismissive hair flip. “It was a genuinely difficult period. I almost quit everything. I was raising three-year-old twins on my own,” Lopez explained, adding that she’d pushed herself to the point of exhaustion while getting ready for her Las Vegas performances.
Lopez shared a story about a conversation with her mentor, Louise Hay, who has since passed away. Hay asked Lopez, a dancer, what she did when she made mistakes learning choreography. Lopez explained she simply kept practicing until she got it right. Hay then encouraged her to ‘always keep dancing,’ a message Lopez found particularly resonant.
She ended her speech with a heartfelt wish: no matter what challenges life brings, she hoped everyone would find joy and keep moving forward. With a loving ‘I love you,’ she confidently walked across the stage, her sparkling dress and flowing feather wrap creating a dazzling effect.
She immediately started performing her 2012 song “Dance Again,” and the audience, feeling the energy, responded with enthusiastic cheers.
Oh my gosh, she told this story again! I swear, it’s the most amazing thing ever. She brought it up during her New Year’s Eve show – seriously, I was LIVING for it! It’s like, she revisits this moment all the time, and now it’s a total staple in her Vegas shows. I’ve seen it a few times now, and it still gives me chills! It’s just… perfect.
Jennifer Lopez began her ‘The Colosseum’ residency at Caesars Palace with shows in January, continued performances this month, and will conclude on March 28th.
Okay, so yeah, it was so hard when J.Lo and A-Rod broke up, everyone saw that. But honestly? They’re amazing! She’s said they’re still really close friends, and they’re totally nailing the co-parenting thing with the twins. Like, they genuinely support each other, which is just…goals, honestly. I’m obsessed with how mature they are about it all!
During her 2025 European tour, Jennifer Lopez seemed to hint at her past relationship with Ben Affleck, 53, through her song choices. She performed new songs about heartbreak, like ‘Wreckage of You,’ which touches on emotional pain and past hurts, and ‘Up All Night,’ where she sings about being worn down by a former partner.
Both songs seem to be about Ben Affleck, referencing his well-known history with alcohol and time spent in rehab.
During a concert in Bilbao, Spain last July, Lopez announced to the audience that she doesn’t plan to get married again.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, famously known as “Bennifer,” first became a couple in early 2002 while filming the movie Gigli.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck began dating publicly soon after Lopez ended her marriage to her second husband, Cris Judd, a dancer. They got engaged in November 2002.
But the couple postponed the wedding and finally broke up in 2004.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, after being separated for almost two decades—during which both had other marriages that ended in divorce—got back together and married in July 2022. Sadly, they separated permanently in 2024.
Jennifer Lopez’s first marriage was to Ojani Noa, lasting from 1997 to 1998. She then had a well-known relationship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs from 1999 to 2001.
Meanwhile, Lopez recently revealed she has ‘never’ seen her singing career as a job.
She’s incredibly grateful for her amazing fans and excited to bring The JLo Show back to Las Vegas this month.
Jennifer Lopez shared with Extra that she’s currently feeling very positive and that energy is reflected in her work. She doesn’t consider her performing a job, but rather something she genuinely enjoys.
I’m incredibly grateful for my amazing fans who have supported me for years. Their love means the world to me, and I always want to show them how much I appreciate it. Having them in my life has been a true blessing, and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without their support.
Following her divorce from Affleck in January 2025 after two years of marriage, Lopez recently shared what she’s looking for in a future partner.
Jennifer Lopez recently shared a memory about performing her 1999 song ‘If You Had My Love’ during her Las Vegas show. She posted about how she felt when she first sang the song, saying she was young and full of hope, like ‘a little baby in the woods.’
I’ve performed this song many times, through both happy and sad moments. But today, my performance feels different – it’s full of strength and confidence.
Honestly, my affection isn’t freely given; you’d have to work for it. That means treating me well and showing me respect.
‘You’d have to accept me for all that I am. You’d have to love me if you wanted my love.’
