Jennifer Lopez is seen in LA amid plans to join VP Kamala Harris at Las Vegas rally ahead of 2024 election
As a dedicated follower of pop culture and politics, I find myself deeply moved by the dedication and activism of Jennifer Lopez, especially when it comes to civic engagement and promoting voting rights. Having grown up in a Puerto Rican household myself, I can appreciate the importance she places on her heritage and the community she comes from.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I savored some precious moments with my children on Tuesday, preparing myself for the exciting journey that lies ahead as I team up with Kamala Harris on the campaign trail later in the week.
55-year-old celebrity was observed faithfully collecting her 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max, from separate locations in Culver City following school hours, despite her hectic calendar.
The mother-of-two opted to wear a zip-up hoodie and her long brown hair in a sleek bun as she ran errands while getting chauffeured by a man driving a black Escalade.
This past week, I got the thrilling news that my favorite singer is set to appear alongside the Democratic presidential candidate at her “When We Vote, We Win” rally in Nevada on Halloween! I can hardly contain my excitement!
As per Deadline’s report, she is scheduled to discuss the significance of casting votes, the national implications of this election, and her reasons for backing Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.
The pop band, Maná, will perform at the rally.
Lopez, who passionately supports community involvement, is said to aim to motivate voters with her forthcoming joint appearance with Harris as the election approaches.
In the run-up to the 2024 presidential election scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th, Lopez has been urging her followers to exercise their voting rights by casting their ballots.
In that video she posted on Instagram recently, she expressed that by each of us casting our votes, we collectively shape the course of our nation and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow within our community. She emphasized that your vote serves as both your voice and your power.
She continued: ‘Our voices are louder together. But the only way your voice can be heard is if you’re registered to vote.’
Previously, the artist famous for her song “On the Floor” shared a playful video of herself encouraging people to ‘head out and cast their ballots.’
Her scheduled attendance at Harris’ Thursday evening rally follows the contentious event at former President Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden.
During Trump’s gathering, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating trash island” – an utterance that sparked significant outrage within the local community.
After Hinchcliffe’s set went viral, Lopez doubled down on that support in her Instagram story.
Both her mom and dad, Guadalupe Rodríguez and David Lopez, were born in Puerto Rico.
This coming Thursday, Lopez and Harris are scheduled to appear jointly on a stage in a state where Democrats express concern about potential loss. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, as of Tuesday, Trump has approximately a 51% likelihood of winning the state, while Harris stands at around 49%.
A recently published CNN/SSRS survey, unveiled on Tuesday, indicates that Trump enjoys the backing of 48% of prospective voters in Nevada, while Harris receives the support of 47%.
In contrast, the most recent time Nevada opted for a Republican candidate during a presidential election was back in 2004. Yet, in the latest election, President Joe Biden secured victory over his opponent by just a slim margin of 33,596 votes.
In contrast, Hinchcliffe’s remarks might have a more significant impact on Trump’s campaign in Pennsylvania, home to approximately 450,000 Puerto Ricans, rather than in Nevada, where about 27,000 reside.
Additionally, Hinchcliffe told broader jokes that were racially insensitive towards Latinos, potentially harming Trump’s chances in Nevada.
The 2020 census put the number of Latinos in Nevada at 890,257 – or 28.7 percent.
Hinchcliffe stated at the MSG rally, ‘These individuals of Latin origin have a strong affection for having children, and it’s important to be aware of this fact. It’s worth noting that they don’t practice abstinence.’
‘They don’t do that. They come inside. Just like they did to our country,’ he added.
Although Trump took a firm position on immigration, advocating for the largest removal of undocumented immigrants in U.S. history, surprisingly, his campaign was finding success among Latino voters.
Like Lopez, Puerto Rico stars, Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin, have also publicly endorsed Harris.
During my campaign trail, I’ve been fortunate to garner an incredible amount of endorsements from some truly illustrious figures in the world of entertainment. Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney, and Eminem are just a few of the Oscar winners, Grammy-winning artists, and musical legends who have shown their backing for my cause. In fact, I was honored to share a stage with Eminem and Barack Obama at one of our campaign rallies in Michigan – a moment I’ll never forget!
Notably, several prominent individuals such as Kanye West, Dennis Quaid, Elon Musk, the Kansas City Chief’s kicker Harrison Butker, Russell Brand, Savannah Chrisley, Kelsey Grammar, Hulk Hogan, and Kid Rock have declared their support for Trump in the upcoming election.
