Jennifer Lopez, 56, shared a story about a stressful moment while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday. The interview happened shortly after a friendly get-together with her former husband, Ben Affleck, at the premiere of their new movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Let me tell you, things don’t always go as planned, even for performers like Jennifer Lopez! Back in August, she was performing at the Central Stadium in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and right in the middle of her show, a big insect actually flew and landed on her. It was quite a moment, but she handled it like a pro!
While singing, the actress had an unexpected visitor – a cricket that crawled up her chest and onto her neck, all captured on video. She quickly brushed the insect off with her hand, causing it to fall to the floor.
After showing the video to the audience, Lopez explained that she had a feeling – a real emotional connection to it.
I initially thought it was just a bug flying around. I could see insects around the lights, like you often do.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve learned to pay attention to my surroundings, and this experience was truly unsettling. I was outdoors, and at first, I thought something was just lightly brushing against me. It felt like a quick touch, almost as if it was bouncing back. But then I realized it wasn’t just a touch – something was actually *crawling* on me. It was a really creepy feeling!
The performer added, ‘If you see the whole clip it is crawling up my body the whole time.’
Lopez said she felt the insect land on her neck while she was trying to finish the song for her fans.
It finally reached my neck as the song neared its end. I realized it was just a light touch, repeatedly making contact and then pulling away.
She described it as feeling like tiny legs, demonstrating with a crawling motion on her neck. Despite the unsettling sensation, she just wanted to get through the song.
Lopez explained that he then thought the responsibility might be his. He admitted he hadn’t understood what it was at first, but then he gestured and threw it.
Fallon praised the singer’s response, telling her, ‘You nailed it – you handled that perfectly!’
The On The Floor hitmaker humorously compared the size of the cricket to a ‘helicopter.’
The actor described seeing something that appeared to be a helicopter, and was roughly the same size as one.
A month before the bug issue, Lopez had a mishap with her outfit while performing a concert in Warsaw.
The singer was wearing a gold skirt with tassels when a section of it unexpectedly fell off, briefly startling her.
The actress was actually wearing nude-colored tights with gold high-waisted shorts underneath.
Lopez remembered creating the sparkly outfit earlier that day, inspired by a look she’d envisioned.
She explained they hadn’t been able to finish it, implying they simply ran out of time to sew it correctly.
Honestly, I was on the fence about wearing it all day. But then, right before I went out, I decided, ‘What the heck!’ And then… disaster! It just completely fell apart on me. I was mortified, but I still love it, even broken!
Just yesterday, Jennifer Lopez and her former husband, Ben Affleck, were together again at the New York City premiere of their new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman.
The singer starred in the musical, with Affleck serving as one of its producers.
The ex-couple happily posed for pictures on the red carpet before the movie screening.
On the red carpet, Affleck gently put his arm around her waist and was later seen leaning in to whisper something in her ear.
The Academy Award-winning actor complimented his former wife’s work in the film, telling Extra, ‘She’s fantastic in it.’
I’m thrilled for you all to finally see the movie. I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out – it’s one of my best works yet. And I’m so happy to be here tonight to share it with you.
He explained that she gave the performance everything she had and worked incredibly hard. Her many talents were on full display, and it was clear she’d been inspired by classic musicals growing up.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck remarried in 2022, but Lopez filed for divorce just two years later, on their wedding anniversary. The divorce was officially completed in January of this year.
The actress was also supported by her twins Max and Emme, 17, at the screening on Monday.
The performer greeted the teenagers, including her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, whom she was married to from 2004 to 2014.
The film Kiss of the Spider Woman also features performances by Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, Bruno Bichir, and Josefina Scaglione.
The musical – which was written and directed by Bill Condon – is set to hit theaters on October 10.
