Jennifer Lopez surprised her fans on Monday by sharing photos that showed a striking resemblance to singer Gwen Stefani.
Jennifer Lopez, 56, recently debuted a striking new platinum blonde hairstyle for her role in the upcoming movie, *Kiss of the Spider Woman*.
Jennifer Lopez, playing the dual roles of Ingrid Luna and Aurora in the new musical thriller, shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram that showed her looking dramatically different.
She looked like a classic Hollywood star, with her hair styled in vintage curls and swept up into an elegant updo accented by a pink headband. She completed the look with smoky eyes and bright red lipstick.
She described playing Aurora as feeling like being transported to the glamorous, dazzling world of classic movies – complete with plenty of dancing! She said revisiting that era was a truly fun experience. ✨
People loved her photos, but many initially thought she was Gwen Stefani, who’s known for her platinum blonde hair and signature red lipstick.

People quickly went to the comments to note how much the two celebrities looked alike, calling one a ‘doppelgänger’ and making jokes like, ‘Is that Gwen Stefani?’
People frequently mistook the person for singer Gwen Stefani, with comments like ‘I thought you were Gwen Stefani!’ and ‘Looks just like Gwen Stefani!’. Several commenters mentioned initially believing it *was* Stefani.
Several people initially mistook the person in the photo or video for singer Gwen Stefani.
Okay, I’m seeing *everyone* is saying the same thing – this person seriously gives off major Gwen Stefani vibes! I mean, at first glance, I totally thought it *was* her. It’s that classic look – a real resemblance! Lots of people are commenting on it, and honestly, I can’t disagree. It’s a spot-on doppelgänger situation!

Even Jennifer Lopez’s friends noticed the resemblance, with singer Natasha Bedingfield playfully commenting that she looked like Gwen Stefani, adding a message of affection.
The makeup artist behind Jennifer’s look also commented, explaining it was a particularly special and elaborate style.
Okay, so Scott Barnes-the *amazing* Scott Barnes-just told me about this, and I’m still reeling! He did JLo’s ENTIRE makeup look for her role as Ingrid Luna in ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman,’ and honestly? She looks absolutely breathtaking. I mean, Scott is a genius, and JLo just *glows* under his touch. It’s a total transformation, and I need to see it a million times!

Kiss of the Spider Woman began as a novel in 1976 by Manuel Puig. It was then adapted into a Broadway musical in 1993, and this production is a version of that musical.
As a huge fan, I was thrilled to see this brought to life on screen by Bill Condon! It’s beautifully adapted from the original music and script created by the incredibly talented Terrence McNally, along with John Kander and Fred Ebb – a true masterpiece they all crafted together.
The movie features Jennifer Lopez alongside Diego Luna, who plays Valentin Arregui, a Marxist, and Tonatiuh as Luis Molina, a gay hairdresser. Both characters are imprisoned together in Argentina.
Jennifer portrays Aurora, a character created by Molina as a way to escape the harsh reality of being imprisoned. Aurora exists purely in his imagination as a comforting fantasy.
Molina is in prison for eight years due to a crime involving a child. To cope with his difficult situation, he escapes into fantasies about movies and a woman named Aurora.
I was absolutely floored by one of Aurora’s roles! She played this incredibly captivating spider woman, and the creepiest part was how she killed her victims – with a kiss! It was so unsettling and brilliant, honestly. It really stuck with me.
In a recent interview with Out magazine, Jennifer discussed the movie, highlighting the intense bond formed between the characters as they’re trapped together and work to survive.
They truly connect with each other on a human level and that’s when love happens. That, to me, is what love really is.

She enthusiastically described filming the musical, which started in March of last year, a time when Jennifer Lopez’s short-lived marriage to Ben Affleck was falling apart.
It’s always sad to hear about a split, and unfortunately, Jennifer and Ben’s marriage ended after just a few months. I was surprised to learn she filed for divorce in August 2024 – it was their second wedding anniversary, and came only three months after she finished filming her latest movie in May.
She shared with Out magazine that making the movie was a wonderful experience, even though she was going through a tough time personally.
‘But it… just filled a part of me that was waiting to kind of come alive for so long’.
Ben and his close friend and fellow actor Matt Damon produced the movie through their production company, Artists Equity.
I’m so excited about this film! Ever since it premiered at Sundance earlier this year, everyone’s been talking about it, especially Jennifer’s incredible performance. There’s a real buzz building for the Oscars, and I think she’s a serious contender.
Kiss of the Spider Woman is slated to be released in theatres on October 10.
