Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce judge has surprise connection to one of her famous exes - but insists there's no conflict of interest

As a die-hard fan of Hollywood drama, I’ve seen my fair share of high-profile breakups, but this one between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has me hooked! The twist with the judge having ties to both parties adds an intriguing layer to this juicy tale. It’s like a telenovela unfolding right before our eyes!

The judge handling the divorce proceedings between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has previous connections with both celebrities, including one of her former high-profile partners.

55-year-old artist recently initiated a divorce proceeding from a 52-year-old actor in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, following persistent rumors about their public romance. A judge named Bradley S. Phillips has been assigned to manage this high-profile case.

According to TMZ’s report from Wednesday, it appears that Phillips has previous connections with both Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s former fiance, Alex Rodriguez, based on documents they have reviewed.

Phillips’ son-in-law, Strand Conover, who is a partner at the agency WME, has been representing both the award-winning actor from Boston and the retired New York Yankees hitter for 49 years. According to reports, Conover collaborates closely with Affleck on his team.

According to reports, Phillips appears unbothered by potential conflicts of interest as he takes charge of the legal process.

In court documents, it was stated by the judge that Conover previously knew Lopez because of his professional relationship with Affleck and Rodriguez. Specifically, Conover acted as the agent for Rodriguez’s brand partnerships. (This sentence aims to simplify the original while maintaining its meaning.)

After a 22-year career in Major League Baseball where he hit 696 home runs, making him one of the top five all-time home run hitters, Rodriguez has been active in media and broadcasting since retiring in 2016.

Conover has never directly represented Lopez, the outlet reported.

In court documents, Phillips asserted that his relationships with both parties would not influence his capacity for being unbiased and neutral in the proceedings. He also declared that he has never discussed the divorce matter with Conover.

Lopez submitted a document on August 20th, following several months of rumors about the state of the connection between the high-profile singer-actress and actor-director. Their personal issues have been a frequent topic in Hollywood news recently.

According to a report, in legal documents, Lopez stated that she would forgo spousal support and asked the court not to grant any to Affleck as well.

In my professional perspective, it appears that no prenuptial agreement was established prior to their union, according to trusted sources. This absence could potentially classify their joint income as communal assets in the event of any future proceedings.

On the second anniversary of their wedding, Jennifer Lopez submitted the necessary paperwork at Ben Affleck’s property located near Savannah, Georgia, which took place on August 20, 2022.

Back in early 2017, I was linked with someone special, and we took our relationship to the next level by getting engaged in 2019. Unfortunately, our journey together ended in 2021. Fast forward to 2021, the world watched as the romance between me and Affleck reignited, marking a rekindling of our bond that dates back almost 17 years. You might recall that we initially parted ways in January 2004, but even then, we managed to maintain a strong friendship. Our original engagement was called off in September 2003, but destiny seemed to have other plans for us this time around.

In April of 2021, it was announced that the musician and the award-winning film director were rekindling their friendship following Lopez’s split with Rodriguez. They ultimately confirmed their romantic relationship on Instagram in July, and made their public appearance together at the 2021 Venice Film Festival.

Back in April 2022, Lopez officially announced her engagement with Affleck. They tied the knot at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas on the 16th of July, 2022.

“In her July 17, 2022 newsletter On the JLo, Lopez expressed that our wedding turned out to be exactly as wonderful as we had envisioned years ago. It became a beautiful reality (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible, and each other) at last.”

On August 20, 2022, exactly two years after Lopez filed for divorce, the couple once more renewed their vows at Affleck’s residence situated outside of Savannah, Georgia.

At the event were present Matt Damon, Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, and agent Patrick Whitesell. The podcast host and life coach, Jay Shetty, oversaw the event.

Lopez has two 16-year-old twin sons, Max and Emme, who she had during her marriage with Marc Anthony that spanned from 2004 until 2014.

From 2005 until 2018, Affleck was in a marriage with Jennifer Garner. Together they have three children: Violet (age 18), Fin (age 15), and Samuel (age 12), who is also known for her role in Alias.
