Jennifer Lopez admits cancelling her tour was the ‘best thing she’d ever done’ amid split from Ben Affleck – before being left in tears by a fan on The Graham Norton Show
As a longtime fan of both Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, I must say that this news about their divorce has left me feeling quite melancholic. Having followed their journey from their first engagement in 2002 to their recent reunion in 2021, it feels like I’ve been on a rollercoaster of emotions alongside them.
Jennifer Lopez stated that canceling her summer tour earlier in the year was the “greatest decision” she made, given her recent separation from her husband, Ben Affleck, who they were married to for two years.
55-year-old singer called off her “This Is Me… Live” concerts in May, informing fans that she felt deeply sad and disappointed for having to disappoint them. Later, it was revealed through divorce papers that she and her partner had separated the month prior.
As a devoted follower, I recall reading that Jennifer decided to step away from the limelight ‘to spend time with her children.’ On the Friday episode of Graham Norton’s show, she shared: ‘I chose to take the summer break to be at home with my kids, and it has been the most rewarding experience I’ve ever had.’
Jennifer, mother of 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her former husband Marc Anthony, expressed: ‘Actions not typical of me, so I feel compelled to offer apologies to my fans.’
Afterward, she reminisced about meeting a devoted fan the day prior to her talk show performance. This fan had purchased a ticket for one of her concerts that unfortunately got cancelled.
‘[He] came up to me and said, “I had tickets to come and see you”. When I apologised, he said “Don’t say sorry we love you”. I started crying straight away.’
Later, Jennifer showed strong emotions upon learning that the fan was part of the studio audience. She exclaimed, surprised, “Could that have been you? I find it hard to believe.
Before thanking him once more for his kind words with a big hug.
After learning about the tour’s postponement, Jennifer Lopez, who marked the split date as April 26, 2024, shared a heartfelt message with her fans via her OntheJLo platform.
‘I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,’ the Hustlers star began.
‘Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.
The producer assures they’ll rectify the situation and we’ll reunite once more. They hold a great deal of affection for everyone involved. See you later…
According to a source, DailyMail.com reported that Jennifer Lopez felt regretful about withdrawing from the tour, as it was doing well, but she had to return home for personal reasons at that time.
The source mentioned that she is temporarily stepping away from her work to spend quality time with her loved ones which include family and dear friends. Earlier, she had dedicated considerable time to preparing for the show and was fully prepared to make a commitment, however, she felt it was appropriate to take some time off now.
‘This was a very difficult decision made by Jennifer this week and she’s sorry to her fans.’
It appears that this decision wasn’t based on ticket sales, as the tour was generally successful in major cities and had seen an improvement, according to our source.
As a devoted fan, I had heard whispers that ticket sales weren’t thriving for the tour, which was advertised as “This Is Me…” – a concert series accompanying her latest album and movie release.
However, once it was transformed into a “Greatest Hits Tour” titled “This Is Me… Live,” ticket sales picked up significantly.
Jennifer made an appearance on the BBC talk show, using the occasion to publicize her latest film, “Unstoppable,” alongside her fellow actor, Jharrel Jerome.
And Ben had massive praise for estranged wife’s performance in the forthcoming film.
52-year-old actor-director from Air shared with Entertainment Tonight on Sunday that Jennifer delivers an outstanding performance as Judy Robles in the sports drama, expressing his admiration for her skill.
Ben mentioned that although ‘Unstoppable’ is distinct from this movie, they both share a commonality in being deeply rooted in the fervor of exceptionally gifted artists. He went on to express that Goldenberg, Jennifer, Don Cheadle, Jharrel, and Bobby Cannavale were all incredibly passionate about this film.
Ben stated that “Unstoppable” serves as another instance of the movies that he and Damon are extremely proud to have been a part of, and they feel fortunate for having worked with the right individuals on this project.
Jennifer initiated a divorce proceedings with Ben in August, following numerous rumors suggesting troubles within their high-profile union involving the acclaimed entertainer and creative professional.
On the second wedding anniversary, she submitted the necessary papers at Affleck’s property located near Savannah, Georgia, which was on August 20, 2022.
In the year 2021, these two individuals grabbed attention once more as they reignited their relationship, a move that came approximately 17 years following the cancellation of their initial engagement and the delay of their planned September 2003 wedding.
