As a long-time fan of the Marvel Universe, I have eagerly anticipated the release of Deadpool and Wolverine’s latest adventure. Having attended an early screening of this much-hyped movie, I am thrilled to share my perspective on this exciting addition to the MCU.

At the 2024 Comic-Con International, Jennifer Garner turned heads in a tiny, off-the-shoulder gown while reuniting with her fellow actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

At San Diego Convention Center, as Hugh (55), one of the stars of Deadpool and Wolverine, listened intently to Ryan’s (47) speech, the actress, aged 52 and also part of the cast, offered him a warm hug.

At the event, she wore a stunning dress and matched it with elegant strappy black heels.

On Friday, the new Marvel film came out with Jennifer taking on the character of Elektra Natchios. Meanwhile, Ryan, aged 47, returns as Deadpool, and Hugh, who is 55 years old, portrays Wolverine once again.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Emma Corrin appear next to us on the red carpet, clad in a striking leather dress that added an edgy allure to her presence. And then came the moment I had been waiting for – Shawn Levy, the film’s brilliant director, approached and gave Ryan and Hugh warm embraces, making my fan heart skip a beat.

At the Hall H panel, Ryan wore a pink short-sleeve button down shirt and matching forest green pants as he took the stage.

He was joined by Hugh, who rocked a white t-shirt, blue jacket and blue pants for the event.

Jennifer originally took on the role of Elektra, an anti-heroine assassin, in 2003’s Daredevil.

That movie also starred Garner’s ex-husband Ben Affleck as the Man Without Fear.

The film failed to hold audiences’ interest, yet gave birth to a sequel two years afterwards, featuring Jennifer as the main character.

The film didn’t perform well at the box office, yet it held significant importance during its release due to its leading actress being one of the pioneering females in the comic book movie genre.

With Jennifer’s inclusion in Deadpool 3, there’s a strong possibility that the movie will explore a multiverse concept.

In San Diego, thousands of enthusiastic fans welcomed the team, while millions took part in advanced viewings on Thursdays, potentially setting new attendance records.

According to initial estimates from Deadline, Thursday night previews for the new R-rated movie are projected to bring in anywhere from $35 to $40 million, potentially setting a new record for this film rating.

The anticipated debut of the superhero sequel was estimated to be around $160 million to $170 million… however, with rising expectations, the film may now bring in up to $200 million – a new record for an R-rated movie.

Dafne Keen, the actress who starred with Deadpool and Wolverine, was joined by her costars, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and director Shawn. They all had an exciting announcement for fans.

Rather than displaying clips during the panel as is customary, the panel served as an exclusive sneak peek of the entire film for the audience.

Following the preview, Feige expressed that it was “an extraordinary movie experience for me,” hinting at the potential excitement among actors and creators as audiences rush to cinemas this weekend, potentially making history.

Based on unofficial reports, Thursday’s preview earnings might have surpassed $35 million, potentially reaching an impressive $40 million mark when the final figures are announced on Friday.

As a movie critic with over a decade of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of box office records being broken. But let me tell you, this new R-rated film is something else. When I heard that it was on track to earn roughly double the amount of its predecessor, 2018’s Deadpool 2, which took in a respectable $18.6 million, my jaw dropped. Having witnessed the hype and anticipation surrounding this movie, I have no doubt that it will shatter expectations and leave audiences craving more. So get ready for an unforgettable cinematic experience!

If it earns over $31 million during Thursday previews, it will rank among the top 9 highest-grossing opening days of all time. However, it falls significantly short of the current record holder, Avengers: Endgame, which made $60 million in 2019 on its Thursday release.

The upcoming Thursday night showing is expected to bring in approximately the same revenue as the 2022 Marvel film Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness did during its preview nights, which generated a total of $36 million and went on to make $187.4 million during its opening weekend.

In 2018, Marvel’s hit movie Avengers: Infinity War earned $39 million on its opening day Thursday, followed by an impressive weekend box office of approximately $257.6 million.

The criticism praising Deadpool and Wolverine’s box office take on Thursdays is abundant, but it remains to be discovered how their earnings will impact their opening weekend in total.

On Monday, several viewers who watched the early showings of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe film shared their thoughts on social media. (The reviews on Rotten Tomatoes will be published soon, with the movie set to hit theaters later in the week.)

The film industry aims to breathe new life into the brand, following underperformance of films like “The Marvels” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” at the box office last year.

David Thompson from The Direct expressed his awe for Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber, referred to as “icons,” by stating that they are “simply incredible” in their roles. He also highlighted the film as holding the title of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “funniest” and “goriest” production.

Thompson remarked: “This production isn’t flawless, but it provides an exciting theatrical journey and represents progress for Marvel.”
