Jennifer Garner sends poignant message as ex Ben Affleck mourns his mother’s death at 83

Jennifer Garner shared a heartfelt message while out and about alone in Brentwood this past Sunday.

The actress, age 54, was seen at a busy farmer’s market after recently sharing that she had been asked not to attend her child’s soccer games.

This news follows the recent passing of Ben Affleck’s mother, Chris Anne, who died on June 2nd at age 83 after fighting pancreatic cancer. Jennifer Garner and Chris Anne remained close even after Garner and Affleck divorced.

For her day out, Garner wore a relaxed white t-shirt with the French phrase ‘Maman Je T’aime’ – meaning ‘I love you, Mom’ – printed on the front.

She also put on a pair of white and blue striped pants and comfortable white sandals.

She had pulled her brown hair back into a ponytail and was wearing sunglasses.

Garner was spotted walking around the open-air market with a big tote bag slung over her shoulder.

She was later spotted making her way towards a sidewalk before heading to her next destination.

Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Garner for comment, but has yet to hear back.

This happened shortly after Ben Affleck’s mother died on June 2nd after fighting pancreatic cancer.

Chris Anne is survived by the Oscar winner as well as her other son Casey and five grandchildren.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were married for thirteen years, from 2005 to 2018. They have three children together: Violet, who is 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s mother seemed to become very close, and they remained friendly even after his divorce.

In 2018, Chris Anne supported Jennifer Garner and her children while Garner was in treatment at a rehabilitation facility.

She also spent Thanksgiving with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner at her house late last year.

Over the years, people often spotted Chris Anne with both Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and frequently with her grandchildren.

In a 2016 interview with E! News, Ben Affleck expressed his admiration for his mother’s parenting skills, saying she did an amazing job raising him and his brother. He acknowledged that being a parent is challenging but incredibly fulfilling, and he strives to do his best as one.

He spoke fondly of his then-ex-wife, describing her as a fantastic mother. He said he felt fortunate to be able to co-parent their children with her, and that they both prioritized their kids’ well-being above all else.

Chris Anne’s family announced her death on Thursday, according to an obituary published by Legacy.

According to her obituary, doctors told her last December she had about six months to live, and her greatest wish was to witness her grandson graduate from high school.

I was so saddened to hear about Chris Anne. She was at the ceremony on May 31st, and then, just two days later, she passed away peacefully in her sleep. It’s just heartbreaking.

As a lifestyle expert, I often see how powerfully grandmothers shape families, and this woman was no exception. Her grandchildren – Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin, and Sam – meant the world to her, and truly brought so much joy to her life, especially in her later years. They were really the heart and soul of everything for her, bringing light and energy to her final two decades.

Ben Affleck’s mother was also at his wedding to Jennifer Lopez in 2022. Despite a fall and leg injury the day before, she was able to see them get married.

Chris Anne officially retired from teaching in 2008, but was active in various social causes.

Garner also has a close relationship with her own mother Patricia, 87.

They were spotted together in April, wearing purple outfits for Easter.

Her mom also appears with Garner on social media with the actress’s Pretend Cooking Show series.

“She really enjoys making people laugh and loves the attention she gets, like when fans greet her,” the celebrity shared with People magazine in March. “She also has strong opinions about everything we do.”

‘She likes to tell me that her episodes perform the best and are the best ones.’

Garner continued, saying he fully agrees with her, pointing out that she’s always been correct throughout their 53 years together and sees no reason why this time would be any different.

The Hollywood actress lost her father in 2024 when he passed away at the age of 85.

Jenna Fischer has been busy filming the upcoming Netflix remake of the popular 2004 movie, 13 Going On 30.

The actress was joined by Judy Greer and Emily Bader during production in Santa Monica, California.

The project has also added Adeline Rudolph, Logan Lerman, Jessica Alba, Taylor Ortega, Tim Meadows, and Dan Bucatinsky to its cast.

Garner is an executive producer on the Netflix reimagining, with Brett Haley directing the film.

I’ve been a big fan of Haley’s work for years! Besides this project, I really enjoyed her work on films like ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’ from 2015, and I’m already eagerly anticipating ‘People We Meet On Vacation’ when it comes out in 2026.

Kimberly Garner has also appeared in the new Peacock series, The Five Star Weekend, which premiered on July 9th.

The miniseries is based on the 2023 novel of the same name written by Elin Hilderbrand.

Along with Garner, the cast also includes Regina Hall, Chloe Sevigny, D’Arcy Carden and Gemma Chan.

According to IMDB, the story centers around a popular food blogger who is dealing with a personal loss. She invites four friends – each representing a different phase of her life – to spend a weekend with her in the luxurious setting of Nantucket. Over the weekend, secrets are revealed and the relationships between them all change.
