Jennifer Garner says her 80-year-old mother, Patricia, is enjoying being in the public eye after appearing in some funny and lively cooking videos.

The 53-year-old actress frequently shares posts featuring her mother, who is 87, on social media, including clips from her online cooking series. Patricia, her mother, is enjoying the attention and popularity that’s come with it.

According to Garner, she’s a naturally funny person who enjoys the attention she gets, like when people greet her. She also has strong opinions and isn’t afraid to share them about what others should do.

Garner fondly remembered two memorable cooking experiences. She laughed about making bagels early in the process, and then recounted a more chaotic attempt at beef bourguignon that nearly resulted in a kitchen fire.

She shared that she loves having her mom around because she thinks her mom is adorable and just the best. She also playfully described her mom as a great person to ‘act’ with, meaning she’s fun and engaging to be around.

In January Garner treated her mom to a trip to see one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

She shared with her Instagram followers about their New Year’s trip to Canada to witness the Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis.

My mom, Pat, is a real adventurer. She told me this year that seeing the Northern Lights was a must for her. She really stressed that point at the beginning of a video she made.

Garner shared photos from a trip to Yellowknife, Canada, where they went to see the Northern Lights. They remembered arriving on New Year’s Day and being surprised that the sun set so early, at 3:45 PM.

As the video ended, she told her mom, ‘That was a fantastic idea! What a fun way to celebrate the New Year. I’m so happy you enjoy trying new things.’

In several photos, the mother and daughter were wearing thick winter coats with fur around the hoods.

The actor shared a heartfelt message, writing, ‘Starting 2026 with a feeling of wonder feels amazing! Thank you, Mom.’

In June 2024, she and her mother were guests on the Today show, where they talked about the passing of her father, William Garner.

Oh my gosh, listening to Patricia talk to Hoda this morning just wrecked me in the best way! Hoda brought up Patricia’s husband, and it was so touching. She said how amazing it was that even after losing him, Patricia found the strength to just get up each day. Hoda was like, ‘You just decided one day, ‘Today’s the day!” and honestly, I was tearing up! It’s just… incredible. Patricia is such an inspiration, and hearing her talk about that moment… it gives me chills every time! I can’t even imagine how hard it must have been, but she’s so strong! I just adore her.

Patricia explained that she’d already made up her mind she would be okay. She had been very anxious about becoming a widow, but then she realized one day, ‘You will be alright,’ and that gave her peace of mind.

Jennifer Garner fondly remembered her late father, saying he would have been thrilled by all the love people had for her. Savannah Guthrie then shared that Garner’s parents had been married for 59 years.

She also shared that her mom is incredibly special. She described her as someone who is accepting and non-judgmental, and who has a remarkable ability to understand what others need and offer support in a quiet, thoughtful way.
