Jennifer Aniston noted a connection with Jennette McCurdy, saying they shared similar experiences with their mothers, as she begins work on the Apple TV+ series based on McCurdy’s memoir, ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died‘.

The Emmy-winning actress shared that she and Jennette, who appeared in 95 episodes of iCarly between 2007 and 2012, have a lot of similarities.

Jennifer Aniston, also a producer on the show, was eager to take on the role of Debra McCurdy, based on the memoir that gained attention for its candidness (and has a fan in Britney Spears).

The show follows the complicated connection between a young actress, age 18, who stars in a popular children’s program, and her self-centered mother, who enjoys living vicariously through her daughter’s fame.

‘When it came across my desk as an option, an offer to play this character,’ said Aniston said, ‘I was pretty much immediately intrigued and flattered and excited.

‘It’s going to be wonderful. It’s going to be pretty great to start shooting it.’

Jennifer announced to People magazine that her mother, Nancy Dow, had passed away, sharing the news with her brother John and expressing their deep sadness.

In a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Aniston discussed the problems that created tension with her former co-star, Justin Dow.

Aniston explained that, being a model, she was naturally beautiful. She herself, however, never felt that way. ‘I wasn’t, and honestly, I still don’t see myself as gorgeous,’ she said, adding that she’s perfectly comfortable with that.

Aniston also mentioned that the person was very unforgiving, holding onto small grievances that she considered trivial.

Notably, the famous actress didn’t include her mother in the guest list for her wedding to Justin Theroux in August 2015.

Robert Dow had a small acting career in the 1960s, with appearances on popular television shows like The Beverly Hillbillies, The Ice House, Mr. Terrific, and The Wild Wild West.

Jennifer Aniston’s mother was first married to Jack Melick from 1956 until 1961. In 1965, she married John Aniston, Jennifer’s father, and they remained married until 1980. John Aniston passed away in 2022.

The agreement to create a limited series based on *I’m Glad My Mom Died* was reached less than three years after the memoir’s publication. The book itself was a New York Times bestseller for almost two years.

McCurdy and Ari Katcher are commandeering the writing, executive producing and showrunning efforts.

Even though she may have had disagreements with her mother in the past, Jennifer Aniston recently told People magazine how much she appreciated growing up in a loving and supportive home, speaking highly of her mother.

The actress explained that she wasn’t allowed to eat any sweets as a child and was given spelt bread instead. She described growing up in a health-focused home, which heavily influenced her lifestyle even now.

Aniston also shared that her mother strongly emphasized the importance of staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and consistently using face and eye cream daily.
