Jennifer Aniston recently shared a poignant, contemplative remark concerning the passing of her “Friends” co-star, Matthew Perry. In her words, a part of her muses that perhaps it could have been “more beneficial” for him to have passed away.

According to the “Morning Show” actor, as shared in an interview published by Vanity Fair on Monday, Perry’s friends did everything they possibly could when they could, during his struggle with addiction. He further stated that it seemed as though they had been grieving for Matthew for a prolonged period because his fight against that illness was incredibly tough.

In his 2022 memoir titled “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry detailed how his companions aided him in their shared journey. This book delved into his long-standing battles with substance addiction and various attempts at recovery spanning over decades.

Despite his claim that he was never under the influence during ‘Friends’ filming, Christina Veta pointed out in her review for The Times, that he frequently felt ill or had hangovers. On one occasion, Perry even fainted on the Central Perk couch, and Matt LeBlanc had to gently wake him up to deliver his lines. Later, Aniston confronted him about his drinking habits, saying “We can smell it.

Perry told Aniston, “I know I’m drinking too much, but I don’t exactly know what to do about it.”

On set, there were instances where I was struggling with a severe hangover. Approximately one year following the publication of his memoir, on October 28, 2024, at 4 PM, Perry was discovered deceased in a hot tub at his residence in Los Angeles. Ketamine would later be identified as the primary cause of death, with drowning playing a role.
