As a dedicated fan of Jennie Garth and the iconic show “Beverly Hills, 90210,” I have been deeply moved by the recent news of the passing of her dear friend and co-star, Shannen Doherty. The images of Jennie arriving at The View in a chic black jumpsuit, looking downcast, bring back memories of their time on the show and the strong bond they shared off-camera.

The star looked downcast as she kept her head down when walking past fans in New York City.

At the anticipated event, the actor from Beverly Hills, 90210, aged 52, was set to address the passing of her colleague and friend, Shannen Doherty.

Shannen died on July 13 at age 53 after a long battle with cancer.

I can’t speak for Jennie, but based on what I’ve read, her experience with the untimely deaths of Shannen and Luke Perry at a relatively young age made a profound impact on her. It served as a stark reminder of our mortality and left her feeling fearful about the inevitability of death. Losing loved ones so suddenly is a powerful experience that can shape one’s perspective on life in significant ways. It’s a humbling reminder to cherish each moment and appreciate the people in our lives while we have them.

I can’t help but feel deeply affected when I think about Luke passing away and now Shanen being part of our world on the 90210MG podcast we recorded on July 22nd with Tori Spelling. It hits me hard, as an avid fan.

“It’s an unsettling thought that any one of us could be affected suddenly. That sense of uncertainty is truly frightening.”

Jennie played Kelly Taylor on the popular television show in 292 episodes from 1990 to 2000.

“Only those who lived through it with us can truly grasp what happened,” Garth explained.

‘It’s kind of hard to believe that other people understand that connection.’

I was deeply shocked to learn of Doherty’s passing, despite being aware of her long-standing health issues. Her strength and resilience had always left me believing that she would pull through.

“It’s surprising and unfortunate that we were taken aback despite knowing she was ill and witnessing her brave battle. I never expected Doherty to lose the fight against cancer.”

In 2015, Doherty received a breast cancer diagnosis that later went into remission. However, the cancer came back in 2017 as stage four, eventually reaching her brain last year.

On the day following Doherty’s passing, Garth paid a heartfelt homage to her with a pair of old photos of them together.

Her caption read: “I’m still trying to come to terms with the profound sadness I feel over the passing of my dear friend Shannen, whom I’ve always admired for her incredible strength. Our bond was genuine and heartfelt.”

Despite frequently finding ourselves at odds, our true connection was rooted in deep respect and admiration for one another. Her courage, passion, determination, love, and generosity were unwavering aspects of who she was.

She expressed deep sadness and will cherish the memories of her dearly, writing, “My heart aches for her, and I’ll keep her memory honorified in mine. Her loss is deeply felt, not just by me but also by her family, Bowie, and all those who held her dear.”

Jennie also shared a lighthearted story about Shannen on the podcast.

Reflecting back on those days post-“90210,” I recall instances when my ex-wife seemed particularly intrigued by the men I dated after our divorce. She expressed a strong desire to meet them, almost as if conducting an interview or approval process. It was an experience unique to my life, adding another layer of complexity to the already tumultuous period following the end of our marriage.

This would be in the time after Garth and first husband Dave Abrams divorced in 1996.

During that strange period, I had dinner with two men who called themselves my boyfriends, but weren’t officially labeled as such. I clearly remember her openly appraising and evaluating them from across the table. (Garth looked back on it)

‘And then I would be like, “What do you think?” And she would tell me,'” she said.
