Surprisingly, this includes never having tasted a Pringle nor indulging in a McDonald’s meal.
The renowned television figure shared with Daily Mail that her mother once wagered a pound with her, asserting she wouldn’t abstain from crisps or chips for a week. Remarkably, she has managed to steer clear of deep-fried snacks and fast food throughout her adult life, which means there are certain brands she has never tasted.
During an exclusive conversation, a dedicated marathon runner shared that her routine – which involves rising early at 4am to host the morning program on Smooth Radio – necessitates discipline, yet she occasionally indulges in enjoying margaritas with friends as a treat.
Starting at age 19, the celebrity now reveals that she runs not just for physical appearance, but primarily for the positive impact it has on her mental wellbeing. She expresses gratitude that the era of promoting thinness, often referred to as ‘heroin chic’, is behind us.
She’s additionally grateful that her daughter Ella will likely avoid being swayed by fitness videos and aerobics, as promoting weightlifting and gym training by influencers has become trendy nowadays.
Jenni said: ‘I am quite good with my discipline to be honest.
On weekdays, my work schedule is quite demanding – I wake up at 4am, manage multiple jobs, prepare for a marathon, hit the gym, and play golf. But come the weekend, I unwind with a margarita among friends. However, if you dare to test me, be ready because I’m a person who sticks resolutely to my commitments.



At the age of 14, my mother made a bet with me for a pound that I couldn’t give up eating potato chips and fries, two foods I adored. So, I accepted the challenge… and I stopped eating them… It’s been 34 years now, and I’ve managed to maintain that habit.
‘Ever since I gave up eating potato chips, Pringles and Kettle Chips have appeared on the market, but they didn’t exist when I stopped eating crisps. I’ve never had fries, nor have I ever eaten at McDonald’s.’
Jennifer began running at the age of 19 as she found it difficult to identify with her appearance due to her hectic schedule which left little time for consistent exercise, and her new book “Runner’s High” was published in March.
Ever since then, she’s developed a deep affection for running, participating in events like the London Marathon and the Royal Park Half Marathon. Her enthusiasm extends far beyond just the physical benefits it brings.
She mentioned that she began her career on TV when she was 19 years old, approximately 30 years back. At that time, she was both attending university in Leeds and working in Scotland, which made for a rather busy schedule.
Back in those days, it seemed like nobody was visiting the gym. Consequently, I found myself leading a sedentary lifestyle, becoming increasingly out of shape, and noticing that my wardrobe no longer fit me properly. One day, I realized this trend wasn’t beneficial for my health, so I made a decision to take action and reverse it.
My entire outlook and motivation behind running have undergone a complete transformation. At the onset, indeed, I embarked on this journey with the aim of slimming down and improving my physique, but running and physical activity have revealed themselves to be much more profound than mere fitness pursuits.
Currently, my focus on exercising isn’t primarily for weight loss. Instead, I aim to prioritize health, activity, and longevity. I strive to feel great rather than simply looking good, although appearances are certainly a bonus. However, the sense of well-being takes precedence over physical appearance in my fitness journey.
Following a run, you might appear quite disheveled, with a beet-red face, a perspiration-drenched visage, and traces of salt around your lips. There’s likely a strong body odor emanating from me, but the exhilaration I feel post-exercise is worth it, which is why I continue to run.
