Jenna Ortega stuns in first look at Wednesday season 2 as production wraps
Oh, fellow horror enthusiasts, let me tell you – I am beyond excited for the return of Wednesday! As someone who grew up watching The Addams Family, the announcement that our beloved gothic heroine was getting her own series had me jumping for joy. And now, with production wrapped on season 2 and a first-look image to feast our eyes upon, I can hardly contain my anticipation.
Exciting news for horror enthusiasts! The wait for the second season of the popular horror series “Wednesday” just got shorter. Production has been completed, bringing us one step closer to its return on our screens. To sweeten the deal, Netflix has unveiled a sneak peek image of the new season, with Jenna Ortega reprising her role as everyone’s favorite Wednesday Addams. Take a look at the picture above!
In the latest snapshot for season 2 of ‘Wednesday’, it appears she’s standing within a graveyard, and her crossed arms and slight scowl suggest she might not be too pleased. Although specifics about the second season are under wraps, it’s clear that Wednesday will likely find herself in another challenging predicament similar to last season.
In the first season, Wednesday found herself enmeshed in a string of mysterious supernatural events at her parents’ former school, Nevermore Academy, where she was also developing her psychic abilities. As for the second season, it seems we’ll find Wednesday back at Nevermore Academy, and one can only speculate about the fresh supernatural puzzles that lie in wait for her.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are responsible for the creation of “Wednesday,” serving as its showrunners, while Tim Burton is set to direct the horror series. Apart from Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luiz Guzmán, Emma Myers, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Jamie McShane, and Fred Armisen are all set to return for season 2.
For season 2, we’ve added several new faces to the cast including Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Christopher Lloyd, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. Notably, Lady Gaga is set to make a special appearance in the show as well.
In September, Netflix shared a peek at the set of the second season of Wednesday, featuring the cast and crew. You can watch it here!
When could Wednesday season 2 come to Netflix?
As of now, there hasn’t been an announced air date for the second season of Wednesday, but it has been officially set to release in 2025. Since filming has been completed, the episodes are now likely moving through post-production, which could take around eight months before the new season becomes available.
As a dedicated gamer eagerly anticipating the next season, I can tell you that the developers have hinted at a possible launch window between July and August of the coming year. However, let’s keep our fingers crossed, as they might speed up the editing process, bringing us the new season sooner. Here’s hoping Netflix doesn’t delay it until November to align with the release of the first season. Frankly, we’ve been patient enough! Once the official release date is confirmed, I promise to share it with you at the earliest.
