Jenna Ortega in discussions to star in secret movie from J.J. Abrams for Warner Bros.
As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for keeping tabs on the entertainment industry, I must say, the news of Jenna Ortega potentially starring in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming secret movie has me absolutely buzzing! With her stellar performance as Wednesday Addams under her belt and a slew of highly-anticipated projects in the pipeline, this young actress is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Previously unknown to many, Emmy nominee Jenna Ortega, was gradually gaining recognition for her skills. However, it was when she assumed the leading role of Wednesday Addams in the widely acclaimed Netflix series Wednesday, that she truly established herself in the entertainment industry. Rumors are now circulating that she might be cast in a future film from J.J. Abrams, with further details to follow.
As of now, the movie doesn’t have a title, but it’s confirmed that J.J. Abrams is working on it for Warner Bros. He wrote the script and will produce it through his Bad Robot production company, which handles both films and TV shows. Additionally, he plans to direct the film himself. We initially heard about this project back in May 2024. At that time, there were early discussions involving ‘Twisters’ star Glen Powell for a role in the movie, although no formal agreement was reached yet.
By August 2024, Powell has not yet officially joined the project, but he’s reportedly close to sealing his agreement, along with Ortega, who’s in the final stages of negotiations. Unfortunately, specifics about the storyline are being tightly guarded, but here’s what we can confirm: it won’t be a movie about time travel.
As a diehard Cloverfield fan, I was wondering if another movie might be on the horizon. But upon digging deeper, I discovered that there’s actually a fourth Cloverfield film in production! However, unlike the previous installments, this one won’t be directed or scripted by J.J. Abrams – the brilliant mind behind the Cloverfield series. As more details about this upcoming untitled movie emerge, I’ll make sure to keep you posted with all the juicy updates!
In the second season of the much-awaited series “Wednesday,” due on Netflix around 2025, Ortega will make her appearance. Additionally, you can catch her in the comedy-horror movie “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” set for a theater release on September 6, 2024. Other upcoming projects featuring Ortega include films like “Klara and the Sun,” “Death of a Unicorn,” “Alba,” and an untitled film by Trey Edward Shults.
Apart from the movie “Twisters,” Powell’s latest works include the documentary film “The Blue Angels” and two romantic comedies named “Anyone but You” and “Hit Man”. His next appearance will be in a darkly humorous thriller by A24, titled “Huntington.” This production features an impressive cast including Margaret Qualley, Ed Harris, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, Raff Law, and Bill Camp.
