Jenna Ortega admits she was “terrified” to return for Wednesday season 2
As a gamer with over two decades of immersion in virtual worlds and countless hours spent perfecting my character builds, I can empathize with Jenna Ortega’s feelings about reprising her role as Wednesday Addams. The anticipation and apprehension that come with returning to a beloved character after some time has passed are not unfamiliar sensations for me.
Jenna Ortega has admitted to feeling “terrified” to return to Wednesday for season two.
On “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” Ortega expressed her apprehension about reprising her role following a significant time gap since the filming of season one, to host Jimmy Fallon.
As the enigmatic Wednesday Addams from the Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff, I must confess, there was a tinge of fear creeping in when it came time to revisit this character, considering it had been quite some time – a few years even – since we wrapped up filming the original series in Romania.
Although initially hesitant about taking on the role again, the actress from Scream shared that as soon as she slipped back into character, everything seemed to align smoothly and her anxiety diminished.
Ortega stated, “To be honest, I wasn’t entirely sure about my approach… It seemed I was overthinking it at the time. However, once I donned Colleen Atwood’s costumes and had hair and makeup done, I wiped all expression from my face, and suddenly, I realized, ‘Ah, now I understand how to perform this role. Yes, I can do this.'”
In another part of the interview, Ortega expressed his enthusiasm about taking on the role of a producer for the second season of Wednesday, finding the process of making decisions “thrilling.”
She expressed, “It was absolutely fantastic,” she said. “This is something I haven’t experienced on a TV show previously, and we discussed it during our first season. It’s such a delight participating in these discussions because I adore what I do and my job, but being involved in the behind-the-scenes aspects makes it even more enjoyable.”
She playfully commented, “I get to determine things like the shade of someone’s color, where their ‘brains’ will be placed on the ground, and how our prosthetics will appear.” It’s thrilling. It’s enjoyable, really. I’m learning a lot. It’s quite informative.
Wednesday streams on Netflix. Season 2 is in production.
