As a history enthusiast and avid fan of British period dramas, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the addition of Victoria to Netflix! Having grown up watching Jenna Coleman’s stellar performances on Doctor Who and Waterloo Road, it’s truly fascinating to see her portray Queen Victoria.
Starting today (October 1), the series “Victoria,” featuring Jenna Coleman portraying Queen Victoria of Britain, is now available on Netflix.
The TV series that debuted on ITV in 2016, titled “Victoria,” offers a detailed account of Queen Victoria’s early years, emphasizing her marriage to Prince Albert, portrayed by Tom Hughes.
In this series, events unfold from 1837 to 1840, a period during which Victoria, still young at 18, claimed the throne. The show also delves into her close bond with Prime Minister Lord Melbourne, who served as her guide in those early years and is portrayed by Rufus Sewell on screen.
This historical series, consisting of three complete seasons, explores numerous significant events in the combined history of British and German royal families, set against the personal life of Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert. Together they had six children, but viewers will have to wait to find out what happens next – as of now, there’s no announcement about a fourth season, leaving us hanging at the end of the third one.
Actress Jenna Coleman, who gained fame from her performances in shows like ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Waterloo Road’, has recently appeared in the crime drama ‘The Jetty’ on BBC One. This series was broadcasted earlier in 2021.

Victoria has just become part of some top-tier British dramas available on Netflix. Notably, Toby Jones’ overlooked BBC drama “Capital” has recently been added to Netflix and is currently trending among the Top 10 shows.
Only recently, the series “Gangs of London” by Sky, featuring Paapa Essiedu, Joe Cole, and Sope Dirisu, premiered on their platform. Additionally, the dark comedy “Breeders,” starring Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard, has just become available on Netflix as well.
