Jenna Coleman leads exciting new cast confirmed for “thrilling” British drama from Steven Moffat

Jenna Coleman will star in the upcoming British drama, Number 10. The Channel 4 series, created by Steven Moffat, who also wrote Doctor Who, offers a look inside the life and work at the UK Prime Minister’s home.

Okay, so I just heard some cool casting news! Jenna Coleman, who I loved as Clara in Doctor Who, is going to play the Deputy Chief of Staff in this new show. Rafe Spall – you might recognize him from Trying – is playing the Prime Minister. And get this, Katherine Kelly, who was amazing in Mr Bates vs The Post Office, will be the Chief of Staff. Sounds like a pretty awesome team, honestly!

Joining the cast are Joe Wilkinson from The Celebrity Traitors, Jing Lusi of Red Eye, Laura Haddock known for Downton Abbey: A New Era, Shaun Prendergast from Wicked, Richard Rankin who starred in Rebus, Akshay Khanna from Murderbot, Abigail Lawrie of Good Omens, and Pierro Niel-Mee from Andor.

The cast also includes Rick Warden (Happy Valley), Robyn Cara (Trying), Rhiannon Clements (Vera), Patrick Baladi (Line of Duty), Harry Baxendale (Shadow and Bone), Alex Macqueen (The Feud), Sid Sagar (Slow Horses), Sam Alexander (The Jury: Murder Trial), and Emer Kenny (Karen Pirie).

This series promises a complicated story filled with love, trouble, and sadness. It’s set in a truly unique home – the only one ever built that has both mice and a nuclear weapon, and where even a bad hangover could trigger international conflict.

The new series, Number 10, will portray a fictional government where the political party in charge isn’t revealed. The story will concentrate on the building itself and the lives of those who work there.

The story isn’t just about the Prime Minister, but also a colorful cast of characters: a conspiracy theorist who owns the cafe downstairs, the perpetually frustrated elevator repairman, and overly eager advisors scrambling for any available space – even a closet. And let’s not forget the cat!

Number 10 Downing Street represents all of Britain and its history, contained within one building. It embodies how the country arrived at its current challenges, but also holds the key to resolving them.

Actor Timothy Spall praised Number 10 as a fantastic script, on par with the work of its writer, Steven Moffat. He also shared his excitement about playing the Prime Minister, describing the show as humorous, realistic, and captivating.

Coleman expressed her excitement about collaborating with Steven Moffat again, stating it was a good time to join another well-known British production. She’s eager to work on the new series, praising Moffat’s writing and looking forward to working alongside Sue Vertue, Ben Palmer, Rafe Spall, and Katherine Kelly.

Number 10 will air on Channel 4, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
