Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie Xo reveals she contemplated suicide after discovering country star’s infidelity

Bunnie Xo shared that discovering her husband, Jelly Roll, had been unfaithful made her consider taking her own life.

In her new memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, the 46-year-old podcaster wrote about suspecting the 41-year-old musician was having an affair.

Bunnie, who was working as an escort while she was with Jelly Roll, revealed she suspected he was being unfaithful during a difficult period in their marriage in 2018, only two years after they got married.

Following a major argument that led to Jelly Roll leaving their home, Bunnie shared that she had become depressed.

She remembered unexpectedly showing up at one of his concerts, and he reacted with anger. Although he claimed he hadn’t cheated, she later discovered he was secretly meeting an old flame at a nearby hotel.

Jelly Roll’s best friend’s wife confirmed to Bunnie that the singer had been having an affair.

Bunnie, also known as Alyssa DeFord, explained that she had proven all of my long-held worries and suspicions – ones I’d had for the last ten months – to be true.

She wrote that she had thought about ending her life that night. The pain she was feeling was overwhelming, and she simply wanted it to stop.

Bunnie remembered taking a bottle of pills and thinking about what it would be like to die from taking too many.

She remembered thinking, ‘Would J even care if I was dead?’ 

Honestly, when things got really tough, I decided I wasn’t giving up. I remember taking a deep breath and telling myself, ‘Tomorrow’s a fresh start. Time to move forward and take control!’ It was exactly what I needed to hear.

That’s when the social media personality decided to move back to Las Vegas. 

After being apart for three months, the musician finally reached out to Bunnie and promised to explain what he had done.

Even though he said he would be honest, Jelly Roll—born Jason Bradley DeFord—wasn’t truthful with his partner, Bunnie. He kept quiet about a past romantic encounter that happened after a previous relationship.

Bunnie decided to give her husband another chance, especially after he proudly showed off his impressive 300-pound weight loss, and they moved back to Nashville. However, their relationship quickly fell apart when she discovered he was secretly communicating with an ex-girlfriend.

Honestly, after that, I couldn’t even stand to hear anything from him. He totally blew it, you know? He had his moment, and he just messed it all up. That’s when I started talking to her instead. It just felt right.

Her ex-partner then shared details of their ten-month affair with Bunnie, including videos, screenshots, and timelines. He even revealed he’d bought a house for the other woman.

Honestly, it wasn’t even the physical part that got to me, you know? It was way deeper than that. It wasn’t about him with another woman, it was the fact that he was already connecting with someone else emotionally, before anything physical even happened. That’s what really messed me up, the betrayal of that kind.

Despite the heartbreak, Bunnie chose to forgive her husband.

It wasn’t like things immediately went back to normal after that, not at all,” she said. “We had a lot of disagreements and fought quite a bit during that period.”

In a particularly intense argument, Bunnie revealed she’d felt extremely angry, even to the point of having thoughts of wanting to cause serious harm, after Jelly Roll confessed he wasn’t sorry about the affair.

It took me a long time to move past the affair and even longer to truly believe my partner loved me for who I was, and that I wasn’t just someone he could easily replace.

Last October, Jelly Roll shared that being unfaithful to his wife was a deeply regrettable experience and one of the lowest points in his life.

Jelly Roll shared something very personal, admitting that one of the hardest times in his life was when he was unfaithful to his wife. He explained that he doesn’t usually discuss this with anyone.

The singer explained that it was the moment they realized they were truly in love. They said, ‘I finally understood I couldn’t fix things, and I knew I was in love with her.’ It was a completely overwhelming realization.

He shared that he worked hard to fix things with his wife, and described the process as meaningful.

Jelly Roll tied the knot with Bunnie in 2016. The lovebirds renewed their vows in 2023. 

Jelly Roll has daughter Bailee, 17, and son Noah, nine, from previous relationships.
