Jelly Roll’s teenage daughter has hilarious reaction to famous dad shaving face for first time in a decade

Jelly Roll surprised his wife, Bunnie XO, by shaving off his beard for the first time in ten years earlier this month.

However, his teenage daughter Bailee Ann had a much stronger reaction when he showed off his newly shaved face.

The rapper, now a country music star, posted a new video on YouTube Thursday showing how he shaved his beard. The video captured his daughter’s surprisingly dramatic reaction.

He started the video by explaining that losing weight inspired him to change his look.

I know some of you might be tired of hearing about my weight loss, but losing nearly 200 pounds recently has really changed my perspective on things,” the singer said as he began his video.

Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, recently shared that losing weight made him consider shaving off his beard and wonder what he’d look like without it.

He confessed he’d been growing a beard for ten years, hoping to disguise his double chin, but it hadn’t really worked.

He hadn’t shaved since he was released from jail and joked he was starting to resemble a Ninja Turtle. Despite that, he was excited to clean up and surprise his family.

I was really surprised to learn that the singer actually told his wife he was going to shave his head! He explained in the video that he didn’t give his daughter, Bailee Ann – who he has with his ex – any warning, though. It’s interesting he chose to share it with his wife but not her.

‘My daughter’s going to see me without a beard for the first time ever,’ he said.

Jelly Roll shared a video of himself shaving, something he’d never done publicly before. This meant his daughter hadn’t seen him without a beard, and he was trying to surprise her with his clean-shaven look.

The video created a funny, uneasy feeling as the shaky camera followed Jelly Roll calling for Bailee, then walking into the kitchen to look for her.

As soon as the 17-year-old saw her father’s new appearance, she looked shocked and turned away from the camera.

“Stay where you are!” she called, glancing back, but Jelly Roll continued to come closer.

Bailee Ann burst into tears of laughter, exclaiming, “I can’t believe this!” as she hugged herself tightly.

‘You look like a turtle!’ she exclaimed, just as her dad feared.

You know, I’ve seen this so many times with people – that really strange mix of emotions. She was laughing, but clearly upset, covering her face and wiping away tears. It’s that moment when you’re trying to hold it together, but the sadness just bubbles up anyway. It’s a really human thing, honestly – feeling two completely opposite things at once.

Honestly, watching her just broke me. She was trying to laugh, but it was this shaky, watery thing, and then she just… crumpled. It was like she didn’t even know what she was feeling, if it was happiness or heartbreak. I just wanted to reach through the screen and hold her, you know? It was devastating and beautiful all at once, and I couldn’t look away.

Jelly Roll began to reply, but immediately burst into laughter and dismissed the question with a wave of his hand. The video then switched to a shot of him outside on his Tennessee farm, where he showed off his face without a beard.

The singer, known for ‘I Am Not Okay,’ playfully admitted, ‘You’ve probably noticed I resemble a Ninja Turtle.’ They then added, ‘It was a really wild experience.’

He explained that he initially grew a beard to disguise the extra weight he’d gained around his chin and neck, finding it an easier way to cover up the physical changes.

Jelly Roll, in a video titled ‘How I REALLY Feel About The Grammys…’, shared his thanks for the three Grammy nominations he recently received.

Jelly Roll has received three Grammy nominations: for Best Contemporary Country Album with ‘Beautifully Broken,’ Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his song ‘Amen’ with Shaboozey, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah,’ which he recorded with Brandon Lake.

Jelly Roll recently shaved his beard, and his wife, Bunnie Xo, shared her reaction in a video on Instagram.

The podcast host, who is blonde, shared that after being with her husband for almost ten years, she’s never once seen him without facial hair.

She announced that her husband would be shaving his beard after a recent photoshoot. She joked that he’d lost weight and now had a prominent jawline, and she wanted to show it off.

Before getting rid of his facial hair, Jelly Roll playfully suggested he was considering a facelift.

Bunnie insisted she wouldn’t look until every strand of hair was gone, repeatedly saying, ‘I’m not looking, okay?’

She explained that he attempted to reveal something to her, but she refused to look until the entire process was finished. Immediately after, she said he asked her to leave the room.

Bunnie came back to find her husband had grown a mustache – specifically, a thick one like those often worn by police officers – and she thought it looked great.

She complimented her longtime love, telling him he looked ‘so fine’ and branding them both ‘fire.’

Once he had shaved completely, she was surprised and covered her mouth, saying, ‘His bare face isn’t bad at all.’

The couple then used FaceTime to show their family and friends the singer’s new look, and they shared everyone’s surprised responses.

One person said, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna cry,’ and another added, ‘What the f***? I am scared.’

However, Jelly Roll — real name Jason DeFord — did not debut his hairless face at the time.

Fans were excited to find out what was happening, and Bunnie posted online, ‘He’ll share when he’s ready ❤️.’

This follows Jelly Roll showing off his weight loss during his summer appearance as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The musician has been gradually losing weight, and last December, he announced his goal of appearing on the cover of Men’s Health magazine.

He revealed on his wife’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, that his new goal is to appear on the cover of Men’s Health magazine by March 2026.

The star declared: ‘I wanna have one of the biggest transformations.’

He added that he was ‘so glad’ to be having the discussion in front of an audience.

I shared this openly because I want to be honest with people about the difficulties I’ve been facing.

Jelly Roll shared his thoughts on how fame and body image connect, saying he believes people who become very well-known sometimes feel embarrassed when they lose weight.

People often feel deeply embarrassed after significant weight loss, leading them to withdraw from social life. When they return, they struggle to adjust to how others perceive their changed appearance and have to learn new ways of navigating the world and interacting with people.

‘I wanted to lose it in front of everybody. I wanted to talk about it.’
