Jelena Dokic slams trolls who called her a ‘fat cow’ before 20 kilo weight loss and reveals she is now is being attacked for being too slim – as the tennis champs shares her new clothing size

Jelena Dokic has shared a passionate plea for body shaming trolls to leave her alone.

Previously acclaimed tennis player, now 20 kilograms lighter, shared on Instagram on Monday that she was frequently labeled with abusive and offensive nicknames during her heavier phase.

However, at age 42, she expressed that despite her weight loss and now fitting into a size 10, she continues to face criticism regarding her appearance.

In the beginning, when I wore a size 20, there was always someone who had something negative to say. Now, since I’ve become a size 10, it seems like someone is criticizing me again. This is the opening of her extensive Instagram post.

It astonishes me that there’s always someone cruel, be it a troll, bully, or an unkind individual, who feels the need to criticize or belittle others. For instance, when I was a size 20, I was often referred to as names like ‘whale’ and ‘cow’, and people would even ask what had happened to my size. She went on to say this.

Since I now fit into a size 10, it seems I’ve joined the so-called ‘diet’ culture, although its connotations are unclear to me. It’s unfortunate that my improved health and weight loss is being perceived negatively, and I feel it doesn’t mean I’ve stopped advocating for plus-size individuals.

‘Just goes to show, nothing will ever be good enough for people and that’s sad.’

Jelena went on: ‘If you encounter judgment, particularly about your size or appearance, remember to be true to yourself. Don’t let others make you feel diminished, insignificant, or inadequate.’

The former athlete said that she was still the same person no matter what her size.

Jelena clarified that she hasn’t left anyone behind; instead, she has improved her health and shed some pounds. Her core beliefs remain unchanged, as they have been and continue to be the same.

It seems that people’s opinions are always influenced by something. So, if you have the power to be anything, strive to be compassionate. Remember, you may not realize the struggles someone else is facing.

Over the last several months, the Australian tennis champion has been openly discussing her weight-loss experience with her followers.

In March, a commentator named Nine posted an image comparing her previous appearance with her post-weight loss look.

Captioning the photo, Jelena offered an inspirational sentiment about body positivity.

She asked, “What sets these two pictures apart, if not the external appearances? The primary distinction lies in their respective sizes.

I remain a diligent, respectful, charitable, empathetic, compassionate, modest, considerate, ambitious, powerful, adaptable, competent, caring individual, female, and companion.

‘What really matters is not different.’

As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but share this heartfelt plea: Let’s all strive to see past the surface and refrain from making judgments based solely on someone’s physical stature. Instead, let’s focus on the depth of their character and the beauty within.

‘Instead, appreciate and focus on what is on the inside,’ Jelena wrote.

Beauty isn’t just skin deep; it’s more about your character than your appearance. It’s the impact you have on others, particularly in making them feel good about themselves.

A gentle spirit outshines all other forms of beauty. Strive to perceive the essence within people, rather than their physical appearance. Always refrain from criticizing or judging others based on their bodies.

More recently, it was disclosed that Jelena shed approximately 20 kilograms over a period of ten months following a struggle with an eating disorder spanning two decades.

Last year on Instagram, the commentator posted a side-by-side comparison, showcasing her present look alongside photos from 2023.

In her description, she emphasized that she was content in both photos. She mentioned that losing weight wasn’t the intention, but rather a consequence of embracing healthier lifestyle choices instead.

She went on to clarify, “The focus here is on MY HEALTH rather than MY APPEARANCE. There have been numerous inquiries about my improving health, which coincidentally has led to weight loss. However, losing weight was not the intention; it’s a beneficial side effect of focusing on my overall well-being.

As a lifestyle expert, I can attest that while some may tout the rapid results of crash dieting, my personal experience has been quite different. Instead of shedding pounds swiftly, I embarked on a healthier journey, losing approximately 20 kilos over the course of nearly 10 months. This was anything but a quick fix.

Jelena shared that her family has a history of diabetes, which prompted her to lose weight, and more recently, she was found to have high blood pressure.

Additionally, she shared her method: “I abstained from consuming dinner late into the evening, particularly foods such as burgers, pizzas, French fries, and sweets.

‘They made me feel so sluggish when I would wake up.’
