Jelena Dokic shared a health update with her fans, letting them know she’s recovering after surgery to remove a growth from her uterus last week.
The 42-year-old former tennis player was hospitalized last week at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne to have a benign fibroid removed.
On Friday, she posted a cheerful update to Instagram, letting her followers know she was doing well after her medical procedure.
The sports commentator was relaxing by the water, enjoying the sunshine and wearing sunglasses.
She posed for a selfie with her partner, Yane Veselinov, and they both smiled widely.
‘First day out and walk since surgery. With my love @yanedonist,’ Jelena captioned the picture.

Last Friday, Jelena revealed to her fans that she had undergone surgery to remove a large growth from her uterus.
The retired tennis star shared on Instagram that she recently had a non-cancerous tumor called a fibroid removed.
She announced she’d had fibroid removal surgery, sharing two photos of herself recovering in a hospital bed at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
I recently had surgery to remove a large fibroid, which is a non-cancerous growth in the uterus, and thankfully everything went smoothly.
‘A bit sore from the four cuts on my stomach and abdomen but all normal and in recovery now.
‘I will be taking it slow for a bit but will be back up on my feet very soon.’
Jelena explained she wanted to help people understand that fibroids affect about 70% of women before they turn 50.
‘That’s a massive number and there has not been a lot of awareness or talk about it,’ she penned.’

She explained that the effects vary greatly. Some women won’t experience any problems, while others may have significant pain and bleeding, depending on the size and location of the condition.
Be sure to get your recommended scans and regular check-ups with a gynecologist. And if you ever experience any unusual or painful symptoms, don’t ignore them – see a doctor.
It’s important to always speak up for your health needs, as women’s reproductive health concerns are sometimes overlooked or dismissed.
Jelena advised her followers to consult with other doctors and to prioritize getting scans and ultrasounds to ensure their well-being.
She expressed her gratitude to Frances Perry House for their support, specifically thanking the doctors, nurses, anesthesiologist, and all the staff who cared for her.
She praised the exceptional care provided both before and after the surgery, emphasizing the team’s kindness, attentiveness, and cheerful attitude.
‘You made me feel so comfortable and looked after and like I was in the safest hands.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone I met who took such good care of me.
‘Legends that don’t get enough credit and spotlight and absolutely should.
I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me – those who called, texted, sent flowers, or are here with me today. You know who you are, and I love you all.
