Jeff Brazier’s year from hell: Star ‘splits’ from wife Kate after bitter feuds, legal woes and mental health issues threatened to tear his family apart

After more than a decade together, Jeff Brazier and his wife, Kate, are reportedly separating.

Kate and Jeff first became acquainted in 2013 and married in 2018. With the marriage, Kate became a stepmother to Jeff’s two sons, Bobby, 22, and Freddy, 21.

However, reports suggest the couple have broken up, adding to a challenging year for Jeff.

The TV presenter and his youngest son recently resolved a long and difficult family conflict, and their relationship is now improving.

Freddy and his father were involved in a public dispute. Freddy took legal action to ensure he could still see his grandmother, Jackiey Budden, after his father tried to stop him.

Jeff unexpectedly became well-known when the mother of his children, Jade Goody, sadly passed away at a young age. He was 30 at the time.

Jade passed away in 2009 after battling cervical cancer. She and Jeff had separated in 2004 and were parents to two sons, Bobby and Freddy.

According to a source who spoke with The Daily Mail, Jeff stepped in to raise his stepsons after their mother, Jade, passed away. He tried to give them a normal upbringing despite the difficult situation, but his stepson, Freddy, and he haven’t been able to build a close relationship.

Jeff had previously gone to court to limit Freddy’s visits with his grandmother, due to growing worries about Freddy’s welfare.

Jeff has repeatedly claimed that she negatively impacts the young person, and they’ve had many public disagreements over the years.

In June, The Mail on Sunday reported that Freddy was visiting Jackiey’s apartment in Bermondsey again, even though his father had gone to court trying to prevent those visits.

Close family friends say Jeff and Freddy remain very close. They explain that despite any personal issues Jeff has with Freddy’s grandmother, he wouldn’t keep them apart for long. Freddy has a strong and loving relationship with his grandmother, even if Jeff doesn’t approve of her due to past conflicts.

Freddy had a challenging year, publicly sharing on Instagram in June that he was entering a rehab facility in Spain to address a long-term smoking addiction that began when he was 12. He expressed a strong desire to get help.

He explained that he started smoking at age twelve and now wants to quit. He realized it began as a way to deal with problems, but it eventually became an addiction he depended on to feel calm and stable.

However, a few days later, Freddy went back online and said he’d reconsidered getting help. He posted that he didn’t think he needed rehab, just a vacation or relaxing time with his friends.

Freddy claimed his grandmother started him using strong cannabis at age 12, despite earlier statements denying she had any role in his drug use.

In a recent video, Freddy shared that he was in a psychiatric ward on his 18th birthday, which led him to understand he needed to make some changes in his life.

The video started with a voiceover explaining that 2.5 years prior, the speaker had crashed a car during a mental health crisis and had suicidal intentions.

It’s been two and a half years, and honestly, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. I’m finally ready to share my story, and I can’t wait to do so!

He described the moment he knew he needed to make a change, explaining, ‘I had a realization that things needed to shift, so I started making an effort to be more social and get out of the house.’

He then decided to improve his diet and concentrate on nurturing his close friendships and practicing self-care.

The video then featured pictures of his daily life: going to events, working out at the gym, and eating healthy lunches. Text on the screen highlighted his focus on self-care, including improving his diet, spending time outside of London, exercising, keeping a small social circle, enjoying time with his dog, and prioritizing skincare and self-love.

The news of Freddy becoming a dad has strengthened his bond with someone, but his relationship with the child’s mother has been difficult, and this is likely affecting Jeff.

After an on-again, off-again relationship lasting several months, sources confirm to the Daily Mail that Jake Quickenden and Holly Swinburn have officially broken up.
