Jeezy and Jeannie Mai finalize divorce after custody battle over toddler turned ugly

As a movie reviewer with a background in family law and having gone through a messy divorce myself, I can’t help but feel a pang of empathy for Jeezy (Jay Wayne Jenkins) and Jeannie Mai as they finalize their own divorce. The image of them walking down the aisle just over two years ago seems like a distant memory now, replaced by months of bitter custody battles and scathing allegations.

Jeezy and Jeannie Mai’s marriage is officially over.

I’m a huge fan of both Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, and Mai. Sadly, after much disagreement between them, they officially ended their marriage in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court on Monday as confirmed by The Times. Now, they are free to embrace singleness and potentially start new relationships if they choose to do so.

I’ve been following the news about Jeezy and Mai’s divorce with great interest. They tied the knot back in March 2020, and they share a lovely 2-year-old daughter who has become the focus of their intense and prolonged custody dispute. The specifics of their divorce, such as the co-parenting plan, have remained undisclosed according to The Times. Additionally, other documents related to their divorce have been kept under wraps as reported by TMZ.

Jeezy’s and Mai’s representatives declined to provide a comment when The Times reached out to them on Thursday.

I’ve been a huge fan of Jeezy, or as some call him, the Snowman, for years. Sadly, I learned in March of 2024 that he filed for divorce from Mai back in September 2023. The reasons behind their strained relationship emerged months after the initial filing.

Last December, as a devoted movie fan, I followed with great interest the unfortunate turn of events between Jeezy and Mai’s relationship. They both filed opposing motions in court, accusing each other of infidelity and attempting to dictate parenting time for our beloved daughter’s care. At that point, we both ardently sought permanent physical custody of our precious child.

In the ensuing months, the legal dispute between Mai and Jeezy intensified. Mai alleged that Jeezy kept his guns in an unlawful manner, while Jeezy countered by accusing Mai of restricting his visitation rights and taking their daughter on out-of-state trips without his consent.

In late April, Mai made serious accusations against her former husband during the custody battle. She filed an extensive 117-page document with the court, detailing allegations of neglect, domestic violence, and verbal abuse. Additionally, she brought up fresh concerns about Jeezy’s responsibility for securing his firearms and ammunition.

In an April statement to The Times, Jeezy expressed that the accusations against him were not only untrue but also distressing, given their source was someone he held dear. Attempts to damage his reputation and disturb his family in such a way are ludicrous.

As a father who has gone through the painful experience of witnessing manipulation and deceit during a custody battle, I can truly say it’s disheartening. But despite this setback, my top priority now is being an active and involved father to my precious daughter. I will continue to put in all my efforts towards this end while I persist in my fight for joint custody as mandated by the court. Rest assured, I believe that truth and justice will ultimately prevail through the proper legal channels, no matter how long it takes.

During the finishing stages of their divorce, Jeezy and Mai have been keeping their followers informed on social media about their personal lives. On her account, Mai has been highlighting the enjoyable moments she’s spending with her daughter. They’ve been sampling Filipino cuisine while vacationing in Palawan and exploring a local farmers market on scooters.

Instead of “Jeezy, on the contrary, has been relishing the sights under the Tuscan sun,” you could say “Jeezy, in contrast, has been taking in the beautiful Italian scenery under the Tuscan sun.” Or, “Jeezy has recently traveled alone to Italy and has been sharing videos of his visits to Milan, Florence, and Lake Como, each one bathed in the glorious Italian sunlight.”

“Sometimes you have to get lost to find yourself,” he captioned the video.
