Famke Janssen, famous for playing Jean Grey in the X-Men movies, recently talked about the possibility of her old co-stars appearing in Avengers: Doomsday. She reminisced about her experiences with the superhero film series, explained her fondness for the genre, and clarified why she now sees that world as something separate from her current work, even after being involved for so long.
Famke Janssen says the comic book genre has never been her world
Famke Janssen, known for playing Jean Grey/Phoenix in *X-Men: The Last Stand*, recently shared her thoughts on seeing some of her former *X-Men* colleagues join the cast of *Avengers: Doomsday*. Speaking with ScreenRant while promoting her new Netflix series, *Amsterdam Empire*, Janssen admitted she isn’t familiar with the plot. She explained that while she’s been involved in the superhero genre for a while, the *Avengers* storyline isn’t something she follows closely, but she’s looking forward to seeing the final result.
The actress said she’s interested in seeing the new film as a regular moviegoer, implying she probably won’t be back for the next Avengers movie. She explained she’ll be discovering the plot along with everyone else and finding out how the story concludes. Looking back on her time with the franchise, she shared that it was a wonderful experience and significantly boosted her career.
Janssen reflected on her diverse career, highlighting her involvement in long-running projects like the X-Men films, the Taken trilogy, and the three seasons of the Netflix series Hemlock Grove, as well as roles in Amsterdam Empire and a James Bond movie. She explained that while she enjoys being part of these franchises, she prefers a variety of roles and doesn’t like to repeat herself.
Famke Janssen last portrayed Jean Grey in the 2014 film *X-Men: Days of Future Past*. The upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday*, directed by the Russo brothers, will bring back several actors from the *X-Men* franchise, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming. The movie is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026.
