Jay-Z’s ‘illegitimate son’ saga takes another twist amid explosive rape allegation
As a seasoned legal professional with years of experience under my belt, I find myself deeply troubled by the recent developments surrounding Sean Combs and Ashley Satterthwaite’s lawsuit against him. The allegations are indeed grave, and if true, they paint a picture of callous disregard for the well-being of young women.
Jay-Z is once again being urged to establish paternity over a child who is not biologically his, marking another challenging legal situation for the rapper, following accusations of sexual assault made against him by a teenager last week.
55-year-old music industry leader, known as Jay-Z in the entertainment world (real name Shawn Carter), has found himself embroiled in a civil lawsuit, with allegations of sexual assault against a young woman from September 2000. The alleged victim claims she was only 13 years old at the time and that Diddy (Sean Combs) was also involved.
Currently, he finds himself once again embroiled in a prolonged court dispute regarding the paternity claim of Rymir Satterthwaite. This individual has spent over ten years attempting to establish the rapper as his biological parent.
31-year-old Satterthwaite alleges that Carter’s lawyers have been deceitful in their past efforts to persuade him for a DNA test, suggesting they may have engaged in unscrupulous practices.
In the latest legal action, Satterthwaite, along with his deceased mother Wanda and Dr. Lillie Coley who acts as his guardian, are named as the plaintiffs. They have filed a lawsuit against various New Jersey courts, judges, and officials, such as the New Jersey Supreme Court. The allegations involve claims that their constitutional rights were infringed upon.
The lawsuit, submitted on November 25, claims a series of rights violations occurred between 2012 and 2023. These violations allegedly stemmed from deceptive court actions, such as concealed documents, unjust penalties, and interference in their legal processes.
In 1992, Wanda, who passed away in 2019, made an allegation in a signed statement that she had a sexual relationship with Carter when she was 16 and he was 22. This claim was reported by DailyMail.com. It’s important to note that Satterthwaite was born in the summer of 1993, which was after these alleged events took place.
At the time she was in an on-again-off-again romance with her high school sweetheart Robert Graves.
In 2010, she asked the Pennsylvania court to have both men undergo a paternity test so they could establish who was truly her son’s father.
The case began with a pre-trial in Camden County, New Jersey on August 13, 2012.
During the pre-trial, Carter’s lawyer contended that since Dr. Coley took over as Satterthwaite’s legal guardian in 2011 due to his mother’s poor health, he lacked authority over this specific case. This is because the initial lawsuit was filed by Wanda in Pennsylvania and thus should be adjudicated in the same state.
The case was dismissed outright because Satterthwaite was over 18 years old at the time of the pre-trial and, according to Pennsylvania state law, paternity must be established before a child reaches the age of adulthood.
The court decided that the trial will proceed based on New Jersey’s legal framework, whereby an individual is considered a parent at the age of 23.
Carter’s lawyers contended that the rapper should be spared from taking a DNA test in New Jersey, as he neither resided nor owned any real estate within the state. However, official documents pointed towards his association with houses in Alpine and Newport.
On December 12, 2012, Lise Fisher, his lawyer based in New Jersey, acknowledged that she had made an error when she stated that Carter did not possess any real estate in the state of New Jersey.
According to DailyMail.com’s court transcripts, Fisher stated: ‘I included an introduction as evidence for my client’s counterargument, which was also a signed declaration by her, clearly indicating Mr. Carter’s home address in New York.’
In my previous testimony, there seems to have been a misunderstanding on my part. I genuinely believed that piece of information I provided was his residential address, unaware it was actually a business location. Therefore, I extend my sincere apologies for any confusion caused by my oversight.
During that period, Carter’s Roc Nation headquarters were situated in New York City – an address his lawyer declared as his personal residence.
Fisher added: “He primarily resides in New York, and this is his home address. This fact remains unchanged regardless of any changes.
Instead, it was through the motion for reconsideration – which enclosed the deeds and tax documents – that Fisher learned about Carter’s real estate holdings in New Jersey.
New Jersey law states that an attorney commits fraud when knowingly making false statements.
If deceit occurs within a court setting, anything that subsequently arises from that original dishonest act is also considered deceptive. This means that decisions or verdicts derived from the initial falsehood are often capable of being annulled or reversed.
The new lawsuit claims that the court system conspired to deny the plaintiffs access to essential legal records, improperly imposed sanctions without evidence, and blocked their appeals.
It is also claimed that several judges, such as Deborah Silverman Katz, Charles W. Dortch Jr., and others, perpetrated fraud by falsely representing property ownership and approving fabricated statements from Carter.
Additionally, the plaintiffs argue that they were continually deprived of fair treatment under the law and penalized for supposedly breaking rules that did not exist, in other words, rules that were not officially established or enforced.
They’re asking for a determination (declaratory judgment) that their constitutional rights have been infringed upon, and they want the court documents sealed for public scrutiny to be made accessible.
The lawsuit also includes claims for ‘negligent infliction of emotional distress’ as the plaintiffs argue that their ongoing legal struggles have caused them ‘significant personal harm.’
They ask that the defendants are held accountable for their actions.
Satterthwaite and Coley argue that Carter’s legal team has made strenuous efforts to prevent a paternity test, primarily because Wanda was a minor when she got pregnant.
The pair are said to have had sex in New York where the age of consent is 17.
DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for comment.
The lawsuit came days before Carter was connected to the scandal surrounding Combs, 55.
On Tuesday, Satterthwaite vigorously refuted Carter’s fiery rebuttal to the accusation that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty on September 7, 2000.
Carter denied the claims and insisted he has always fought to ‘protect children.’
It’s truly disheartening and infuriating to observe how Mr. Carter counters accusations by diverting attention and launching assaults, as he expressed to DailyMail.com about the matter.
‘For many years, I’ve been on a journey to understand who I am, as my mother Wanda was only 16 when she gave birth to me. This isn’t driven by a desire for wealth or attention; rather, it’s about discovering the truth and making sure everyone involved is held responsible.’
Satterthwaite challenged the assertion, implying that if Carter truly upholds the principles of honor and child welfare, he ought to cease denying his parentage.
Regardless of my attempts, Mr. Carter has yet to pen a single letter addressing these allegations – be it to refute them, admit paternity, or explain the actions of his legal team that led to this fraudulent situation, as he went on to say.
If Mr. Carter truly upholds the principles of integrity and child welfare, as suggested in his correspondence, then he ought to act transparently. Instead, he seems to be evading and diverting questions.
The suit claims the woman, referred to as Jane Doe, was driven to a house party and offered a drink that made her feel ‘woozy, lightheaded and felt [like] she needed to lie down.’
After that, it’s said that both Combs and Carter walked into the room with Combs exclaiming: “It’s time to celebrate!
According to her account, after Carter allegedly took off her clothes, he pinned her down and sexually assaulted her. This incident reportedly occurred in the presence of Diddy and an unidentified female celebrity. Furthermore, she alleges that Combs also committed sexual assault while Carter and the woman were both present.
In his statement, Carter emphasized the severity of these accusations, stating that they are so horrific and unacceptable that they warrant a criminal case, not a civil one. He strongly believes that anyone who could perpetrate such a heinous act against a minor deserves to be prosecuted and imprisoned, don’t you think?
‘These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.’
