Jay Leno is 'all black and blue' and sporting an eye patch after 60-foot downhill tumble

As a seasoned cinephile with a knack for reminiscing Hollywood’s golden eras, I’ve always admired Jay Leno’s resilience and unwavering dedication to his craft. His latest misadventure is just another testament to his indomitable spirit.

Once again, Jay Leno is making a comeback following another unfortunate accident – this time caused by a slip on a steep slope, which he underestimated given his age of 74 years.

On the eve of his Friday performance at Pittsburgh’s Palace Theatre, Leno decided to take a shortcut. Unfortunately, this route turned out to be steep and led him to tumble 60 feet downhill, colliding with several rocks on the way. He shared this incident with TMZ on Monday, during his appearance at the Comedy for Koby event in Beverly Hills.

He exclaimed, ‘I tripped and tumbled!’ He chuckled self-deprecatingly, lifting his eyepatch to show a large bruise spreading across his eye.

In addition to injuring his eye, Leno also fractured his wrist and lost a nail. He shared with Inside Edition that he was covered in bruises, saying, “I’m completely purple and swollen.

Regardless of the incident, the previous host of “The Tonight Show” carried on with his scheduled program as planned. Photos from the Pittsburgh venue reveal Leno wearing an eyepatch. In an interaction with TMZ, he said, “When you have 2,600 people relying on you, ‘the show must continue.’

Later on, after his return to Los Angeles, Leno received treatment for his injuries. Additionally, he proceeded with a Saturday performance at the Yaamava’ Theater, which is located close to San Bernardino.

A representative for Leno did not reply immediately Tuesday to The Times’ request for comment.

Approximately a year ago, Leno met with an accident on his motorbike, resulting in a fractured collarbone, two fractured ribs, and two fractured kneecaps.

“But I’m OK!” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time. “I’m working this weekend.”

Approximately two years ago, just two months before the mentioned event, the host of “Jay Leno’s Garage” experienced severe burns, both second- and third-degree, while working on an old vehicle in his garage in Burbank. Jay Leno’s friend, Dave Killackey, who was present during the incident, shared the details with Today, stating, “He underplays it, but let me tell you, he was completely surrounded by fire. I couldn’t even see his face; it was a blazing wall.

He playfully said to TMZ on Monday night, “What’s fantastic about today is that we don’t have to learn from our errors. Instead, we just keep repeating the same foolish actions.
