Jax Taylor refiles for divorce from estranged wife Brittany Cartwright after hiring Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline’s attorney
As a die-hard fan of Vanderpump Rules, I’ve been following Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright’s rollercoaster ride since their very first episode together. From their whirlwind romance to their lavish wedding, and now their tumultuous divorce proceedings, it seems like their love story is written in the stars – or perhaps on a reality TV script!
Jax Taylor refiled from divorce from his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright on Thursday.
45-year-old Star from The Valley enlisted the lawyer who previously represented Kevin Federline, the former spouse of Britney Spears, during their divorce process.
Cartwright, 35, first filed for divorce back in August.
Currently, the television personality from reality shows has responded with a petition seeking the termination of their marriage, as stated in court papers acquired by Us Weekly. Taylor has specified Mark Vincent Kaplan as his legal representative.
Following Cartwright’s critique, it was noted that he had submitted his divorce paperwork with mistakes, as he hadn’t sought advice from legal professionals.
Last month, he filed last month while representing himself and mistakingly checked a box indicating that he and Cartwright were never legally married.
The Vanderpump Rules alum also gave an inaccurate timeline of their relationship.
Contrary to Cartwright, who privately set their split date for January 24, 2024, a month prior to making their separation public, Taylor asserted that they didn’t actually end things officially until September 26, 2024.
Additionally, it appeared that he mistakenly selected the option “other” when specifying how to calculate child support for their son Cruz.
Following the confusion among fans due to Taylor’s errors and inconsistencies, Cartwright decided to clarify the situation on social media.
She commented on an E! News post, saying, “We’re officially husband and wife,” hinting that perhaps the process of formalizing their relationship can be challenging for certain individuals.
Back in 2019, when Lance Bass officiated their wedding, he also made it clear that the union between Cartwright and Taylor was officially recognized by law.
‘Pastor Lance signed the papers,’ he wrote.
Taylor’s spokesperson explained to People that any mistakes made by their client would be promptly corrected.
Jax and Brittany have settled all custody issues regarding their son Cruz, and they plan to collaborate privately in the future for Cruz’s benefit, as his well-being is their top priority, according to their representative.
‘Though Jax may have made mistakes on forms typically filled out by legal experts, these errors will swiftly be corrected.’
Taylor recently appointed a lawyer who has previously handled cases for celebrities such as Charlie Sheen, Paula Abdul, and Kevin Federline during his custody dispute with Britney Spears, to manage his divorce proceedings.
In the year 2008, Federline received sole custody of their two boys, Preston (aged 19 currently) and Jayden (aged 18 currently), who are his and Spears’ sons.
It appears that the custody agreement between Cartwright and Taylor might be more amicable, given that they’ve both openly expressed their desire to co-parent.
Last month, Cartwright said she wants the best for their son and that includes having his father in his life.
She assured People that she would never separate Cruz from Jax, adding that their top priority is always Cruz’s wellbeing and they aim to establish a healthy co-parenting bond in the future.
In the course of their shared podcast, When Reality Hits, he expressed his desire to keep being a fantastic father to their child.
Taylor also said he will ‘always love and care’ for his ex.
He stated, “She is the mother of my lovely child.” However, what I yearn for between us is a friendly relationship – ideally, an exceptional one, if possible, in the future.
He added: ‘I know I’m an amazing father and I know that I will make an excellent ex-husband.’
