Jason Watkins and Robson Green team for new detective drama from Death in Paradise boss
As a die-hard fan of British detective dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming series, “Catch You Later.” With Jason Watkins and Robson Green at the helm, this cat-and-mouse thriller promises to be a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue.
Actors Jason Watkins and Robson Green are set to lead the cast in an upcoming detective series penned by the creative mind behind “Death in Paradise,” named Toby Frow.
Titled “See You Soon,” the new series, given the go-ahead by Channel 5, features McDonald & Dodds star Watkins, Grantchester performer Green, and Casualty’s Sunetra Sarker alongside them.
Under the genre of a “cat-and-mouse chase,” the novel titled “Catch You Later” unfolds the narrative about Detective Huw Miller (Watkins), who is tormented by an unsolved case – a local stalker that amused himself with his victims before ultimately taking their lives.
In line with the plot summary, as I embark on my retirement journey, the case that once consumed me lingers in the back of my mind. When my new neighbor, Patrick Harbottle (Green), casually mentions ‘catch you later’, a chilling phrase reminiscent of the stalker’s sign-off during our investigation, I can’t shake off the feeling that I’ve finally found him.
Here’s what unfolds next: A tense game of psychological chess ensues between the neighbors, as Huw’s life starts unraveling rapidly.
Unable to endure the shame and remorse of a stalker claiming another victim, Huw decides to dig up the truth at any cost. However, is the person he’s targeting truly the culprit, or is his relentless pursuit driving him dangerously close to the edge?
In this project, screenwriter Tom Grieves is responsible for crafting the script, and the director’s chair will be filled by Frow, who has previously worked on shows like “Silent Witness,” “Death in Paradise,” and “Midsomer Murders.
Regarding my role in the upcoming thriller, Watkins expressed enthusiasm, saying, “I’m really looking forward to working on another suspenseful Channel 5 production following the success of Coma. This new project offers a fresh challenge yet promises all the elements for another gripping experience.
I’m thrilled to collaborate with both Robson and Sunetra! A new, intricate, and captivating script lies ahead, and I can hardly wait to start filming!
Simultaneously, Green expressed his excitement about collaborating with Jason Watkins once more on the upcoming Channel 5 series, “Catch You Later”. He finds Jason to be an exceptionally gifted actor, capable of adding rich layers and subtlety to his roles.
Filming for the show “Catch You Later” commences next month, with an anticipated air date on Channel 5 in 2025.
