Roger Donaldson’s 2008 action film, The Bank Job, starring Jason Statham, is now available on ITVX. The movie is loosely based on the real 1971 robbery of safety deposit boxes at the Lloyds Bank branch in Baker Street, and was co-written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, known for the TV series Porridge.
Okay, so Jason Statham’s the main guy, but the movie’s packed with awesome actors alongside him. We’re talking Saffron Burrows, Richard Lintern, Stephen Campbell Moore, Daniel Mays, Peter Bowles, Keeley Hawes, Colin Salmon, Peter de Jersey, and James Faulkner – seriously, a really strong supporting cast!
Meet Terry Leather (Jason Statham), a small-time crook and car dealer in London’s East End. In The Bank Job, Terry is approached by a former flame, Martine Love (Saffron Burrows), with a daring proposal: to gather a team and rob a bank on Baker Street.

Martine doesn’t reveal that the true goal of the robbery is to get back damaging photos of Princess Margaret. These photos are being held by gangster Michael X (Peter de Jersey) as leverage against the British government. As corrupt police, dangerous gangsters, and government officials all try to get their hands on the photos, what begins as a straightforward bank robbery quickly becomes a terrifying ordeal for Terry and his crew.
Fans on IMDb have praised The Bank Job as a fantastic heist film, and critics generally agree, giving it a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
