Jason Segel and Samara Weaving to lead upcoming thriller The Trip
As a seasoned gamer of the silver screen, I can’t help but feel like Christmas has come early! With Samara Weaving, one of my favorite scream queens, taking on yet another thrilling role, it’s no wonder my popcorn kernels are popping with anticipation. The upcoming movie, “The Trip,” sounds like a rollercoaster ride of suspense and intrigue that I simply can’t miss!
Actress Samara Weaving, known for her chilling roles in modern horror and our beloved scream queens, is currently swamped with projects, which makes us happy to see her thriving. It was announced that she will star in the forthcoming horror movie “Ready or Not 2”. Now, we’ve got fresh news that she’ll appear in an upcoming suspenseful drama titled “The Trip”.
In the film titled “The Trip“, Jason Segel, an Emmy-nominated actor, is slated to act alongside her. Their roles depict a troubled couple seeking solace at a remote cabin, with ulterior intentions of potentially ending each other’s lives. Notable actors such as Timothy Olyphant (from “Justified: City Primeval“), Juliette Lewis (known for “Yellowjackets“), Paul Guilfoyle (starring in “Evil“), and Keith Jardine (featured in “Love Lies Bleeding“) are also part of the cast for this upcoming movie.
Jorma Taccone, well-known for his work in the action comedy series MacGruber, will be directing a movie adaptation of Tommy Wirkola’s Norwegian thriller I Onde Dager, penned by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney. This film is being produced by 87North and XYZ Films, with Taccone, Wirkola, Jørgen Storm Rosenberg, and Kjetil Omberg serving as executive producers. Karen Gillan will also be a co-producer for the project.
At present, filming is being conducted in Tampere, Finland. As of now, we’re unsure when production will wrap up. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information.
Apart from “The Trip” and “Ready or Not 2,” Weaving will also appear in the upcoming films: a comedy thriller titled “Borderline,” a heist thriller called “Eenie Meanie,” and a romantic crime thriller named “Carolina Caroline.” As for Segel, you can find him in the second season of “Shrinking,” which is now available on AppleTV+.
In a statement to Deadline, Wirkola voiced his enthusiasm regarding the project. Here’s what he had to share: [the content of the statement]
I can’t wait to see Jorma bring his totally singular sensibility to the material. That, combined with this killer cast, makes me beyond excited that this film will truly stand out in the cinematic landscape.
