Jason Manford shares defiant message after undergoing surgery as he reveals major changes to his travel plans he’s had to make amid illness

Jason Manford shared a health update and a resilient statement following his surgery and cancellation of four performances.

I, as a devoted follower, was eagerly anticipating attending the comedian’s A Manford All Seasons tour in Hertfordshire on Thursday. However, it was disappointingly shared that he was too ill to perform, resulting in the cancellation of that show and, unfortunately, three more subsequent performances.

Later on, it was disclosed that he had contracted appendicitis, a condition where the appendix becomes inflamed and typically requires surgical removal due to the intense pain it causes.

On Sunday, it appeared that Jason had made a good recovery, as he shared on Instagram that he was no longer in the hospital and preparing for a vacation instead.

The television host boldly asserted to his followers that he would not succumb, as he shared updates on the significant changes in his travel plans due to his illness.

Posting a photo of himself lounging on a bed in a ferry cabin, Jason wrote: “I won’t let anything stop me from taking a break! I’m going on a vacation! Though I can’t fly to Portugal, how about this ferry ride instead? Off we go. 🚢 It’s a bit of a journey, but it’s 33 hours long.

His post was met with plenty of messages from fans expressing their joy that he was on the mend.

On Saturday, Jason was comfortably accompanied by his parents at his hospital bed while he recovered from an appendix operation.

Or,

Over the weekend, Jason’s parents stood by him in a caring manner as he recuperated in his hospital room following an appendix operation on Saturday.

He posted an update on Instagram, sharing a heartwarming picture of his parents, Sharon and Ian, who came to see him at the hospital.

He wrote in his caption, ‘My parents are here to take care of me tonight as the rest of the family is gone. They preferred not to leave me alone.’

‘Always their baby no matter how old ya get!’

He was greeted with kind comments from his celebrity friends, who wished him a speedy recovery.

Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas shared: ‘This is cute get better soon sir x.’

While Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley added: ‘Love that. God bless them x.’

After undergoing surgery, Jason posted a cheerful photo on Instagram during the wee hours of Saturday morning, showing him relishing a late-night treat of pepperoni and pineapple pizza, affectionately referred to as a ‘midnight snack’.

The television host, sporting a cannula on his arm, exuded positivity while striking a pose next to a pizza, later posting more pictures showcasing various aspects of the Italian delicacy.

On Sunday, comedian John Bishop took over for Jason at the Kendal Calling festival. The 58-year-old Liverpool native posted a comical video about the change on Jason’s social media accounts instead.

Translated, John stated into the camera: “Kendal Calling on Sunday afternoon can’t be cancelled, and since I’m available then, John has asked me to take over for Jason. So I’ll do just that.

After a harrowing 24-hour period, it was discovered that Jason had initially experienced symptoms while cruising at 70mph on the highway.

I posted on Instagram that the appendix operation was successful, and I am now recuperating while sipping on Vimto; it seems to be available in all hospitals across Manchester.

Spent a very challenging and agonizing 24 hours, but incredibly grateful for the National Health Service (NHS) and my remarkable mother who is an angel during a health emergency!

‘My advice would be to not get Appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!’

Jason expressed his sadness over missing his forthcoming performances and showed gratitude towards fans for their backing.

In a sincere manner, I must express my disappointment about having to reschedule the events this weekend. I apologize for giving short notice to everyone in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness, and those attending Kendall Calling.

It seemed possible for me to manage with antibiotics and postpone surgery, allowing me to continue with my performances. However, I was counseled against this approach.

‘Additionally, it means I won’t be able to travel to Portugal with my family for our vacation on Monday. Oh well, that’s how things go sometimes. Thank you for all your “Get Well Soon” messages.’

On Thursday, it became clear that Jason had to cancel his performance in Hertfordshire because he wasn’t well.

I’m sorry for any inconvenience, but unfortunately, the scheduled performance of ‘A Manford All Seasons’ at Alban Arena on tonight has to be cancelled unexpectedly because Jason Manford is ill. The show will be rescheduled to Monday, 20th October 2025 instead.

‘Thank you for understanding, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.’

In the information sent to X, it was mentioned that additional performances in Oxford, Lincoln, and Skegness, originally scheduled for this year, have been postponed and are now set for later in 2025 and early 2026.

I’m sorry to share this news, but unfortunately, the scheduled performances of “A Manford All Seasons” have been suddenly canceled because Jason Manford is not feeling well.

Oxford – New Theatre, Lincoln – The Engine Shed, Skegness – Embassy Hall. Hope this doesn’t cause any problems.
