Jason Manford received tender care from his parents, who remained at his side during his recovery following the surgery.
Over the weekend, the comedian (aged 44) has been recuperating in the hospital because he had to postpone four performances following an appendix operation that he needed.
On Saturday, he shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, which included a lovely picture of his mom and dad, Sharon and Ian, visiting him at the hospital.
He shared that his parents are visiting to take care of him tonight, as the rest of the family is not here, and he prefers not to be alone. (This paraphrasing aims to convey the original message in a clearer and more natural way.)
‘Always their baby no matter how old ya get!’
He was greeted with kind comments from his celebrity friends, who wished him a speedy recovery.

Emmerdale’s Adam Thomas shared: ‘This is cute get better soon sir x.’
While Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley added: ‘Love that. God bless them x.’
Over the weekend, Jason had to be urgently taken to the hospital due to appendicitis, a condition where his appendix inflates, leading to intense discomfort. Typically, surgeons will need to surgically remove the appendix in such situations.
Originally, he was scheduled to perform at his A Manford All Seasons tour in Hertfordshire on Thursday. However, it was later announced that he was too ill to do so, and as a result, he cancelled an additional three performances to allow himself time to recover.
After his operation, Jason posted on Instagram during the early hours of Saturday morning a cheerful photo of himself savoring a late-night treat – pepperoni and pineapple pizza.
The television host, sporting a cannula on his arm, appeared cheerful as he struck a pose in front of a pizza, later posting additional photos showcasing various aspects of the Italian meal.
John Bishop took over for Jason at the Kendal Calling festival on Sunday, as the Liverpool-born comedian, aged 58, posted a funny video announcing the switch, which he shared on Jason’s social media account.
In a direct address to the camera, John expressed: ‘Kendal Calling on Sunday afternoon is the event that can’t be missed. Since I happen to be available, John asked me to take over for Jason during his absence.’

After a harrowing 24-hour period, it was discovered that Jason had initially experienced symptoms while cruising at 70 miles per hour on the highway.
In a post on Instagram, he announced that his appendix surgery was successful and he’s currently recuperating, enjoying Vimto which is served in every hospital in Manchester.
Spent a very tough and nerve-wracking 24 hours, but grateful for the support of our National Health Service and my amazing mother who is an absolute lifesaver during health emergencies!
‘My advice would be to not get Appendicitis whilst driving at 70mph on the motorway!’
Jason expressed his sadness over missing his forthcoming performances and appreciated the fans’ encouragement.
To be honest, I’m really disappointed that I needed to reschedule the dates this weekend, and I apologize for giving short notice to so many people in St Albans, Oxford, Lincoln, Skegness, and those attending Kendall Calling,” he explained further.
Initially, I had planned to manage with antibiotics and postpone surgery to continue with my performances, but I was warned against it.
Additionally, it signifies that I won’t be able to travel to Portugal on Monday to spend time with my family during their vacation. Oh well, such are the circumstances. I appreciate all the “Get Well Soon” messages you sent me.

On Thursday, it was made official that Jason had to cancel his performance in Hertfordshire because he wasn’t well.
I’m sorry to share the news, but unfortunately, tonight’s show ‘A Manford All Seasons’ at Alban Arena, scheduled for @albanarena, has been unexpectedly cancelled due to Jason Manford falling ill. The performance will be rescheduled to Mon 20th Oct 2025 instead.
‘Thank you for understanding, we apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
In the message sent to X, it was mentioned that three more performances in Oxford, Lincoln, and Skegness were canceled and are now planned to take place towards the end of this year and into early 2026.
I’m sorry to notify you that the scheduled shows of ‘A Manford All Seasons’ have unfortunately been unexpectedly cancelled, as Jason Manford is not well.
‘Our shows are taking place at Oxford’s New Theatre, Lincoln’s The Engine Shed, and Skegness’ Embassy Hall. We regret any trouble this might cause you.’
