Jason Isaacs’ “devastatingly funny” British comedy is on TV tonight

The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs’ British comedy The Death of Stalin is on TV tonight.

As the Sydney Morning Herald puts it, this film is “hilariously destructive”. You can catch it tonight on BBC One at 11:55 PM.

You don’t have to stay up so late, as the comedy will become available on BBC iPlayer not long after it airs.

2017 saw the debut of a witty comedy with a satirical edge, which narrates the power tussle that ensued following the demise of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin in 1953.

Under the direction of Armando Iannucci, who is known for his work on “In the Loop”, this movie features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Rupert Friend, Paddy Considine, Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, Michael Palin, Jeffrey Tambor, Olga Kurylenko and Isaacs.

In a previous discussion about the movie, Isaacs mentioned: “The film mirrors current political situations – it appears as if it was penned specifically for our times. Armando’s brilliance lies in his ability to be both contemporary and eternal.

At present, Isaacs is featuring in the third series of the popular TV series, “The White Lotus”, portraying character Timothy Ratliff, a financier.

On a recent episode of “The One Show,” Isaacs discussed his experience on the set, remarking that it was somewhat like a game. While he mentioned that most people generally got along, there were instances of alliances being made and broken. Off-screen, he implied, there was something similar to “The White Lotus” dynamic, albeit with hopefully fewer tragic outcomes represented by body bags.

In an account of the filming experience, Isaacs mentioned that due to the intense heat and high number of individuals involved, being away from home “felt more like work rather than a vacation.

Over a span of seven months, we were piled up together and constantly in each other’s company, he explained. But given the circumstances, I don’t understand why people would be envious of me – it wasn’t a relaxing vacation! Instead, forty individuals shared a villa without air conditioning, enduring temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. We were all plastered with makeup and surrounded by equipment for long hours, making it impossible to escape the work environment during the day.

Tonight, I’m super excited about catching “The Death of Stalin” on BBC One at 11:55 PM! Right after it airs, you’ll be able to stream it on BBC iPlayer as well. Can’t wait!
