As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast who has survived countless virtual apocalypses and thwarted more villainous plots than I can count, the trailer for “Carry-On” on Netflix has piqued my interest like nothing else in recent memory. The combination of Jaume Collet-Serra’s directorial prowess, T.J. Fixman’s scriptwriting talents, and the star power of Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton promises an exhilarating, edge-of-your-seat experience that I can’t wait to immerse myself in.
This holiday season, it’s Jason Bateman causing chaos at an airport, attempting a deadly massacre. The one individual standing in his way is a TSA agent, portrayed by Taron Egerton, yearning for nothing more than to make it through the day and enjoy some quality time with his girlfriend (Sofia Carson).
The Netflix thriller titled “Carry-On” is set to debut this December with its trailer now available. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who brought us “The Shallows”, this film appears to be a gripping thriller reminiscent of the action-packed style seen in movies like “Die Hard” and “Phone Booth” starring Colin Farrell. T.J. Fixman, renowned for his work on the “Ratchet & Clank” video game series, has penned the screenplay for “Carry-On”.
The trailer hints at Egerton’s character, Ethan, making every effort to outsmart Bateman’s cold and strategic role, who is determined to carry a mysterious suitcase past the security checkpoint without interference. True to form for a ruthless killer planning mass murders, this terrorist, operating within a domestic setting, doesn’t hesitate to threaten Ethan’s girlfriend and all the innocent bystanders at the airport.
During their conversation with Tudum, Egerton shared that he along with director Collet-Serra worked together to make the character Ethan appear as ordinary and familiar as possible. The aim is for Ethan to seem like an average, everyday security agent who finds himself in an extraordinary and frightening predicament.
The film “Carry-On” appears to be a sleek and captivating thriller filled with exhilarating action scenes and plenty of tension. Given Egerton’s experience in the Kingsman series, it’s clear he’s well-equipped for this role, and Bateman shines at portraying such chilling characters. Notably, it marks the first project jointly produced by Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s production company, Amblin Partners.
Beyond just the main pair, the entire acting lineup is noteworthy. It includes Danielle Deadwyler, Logan Marshall-Green, Sinqua Walls, Dean Norris, Gil Perez-Abraham, Tonatiuh, Curtiss Cook, Joe Williamson, and Josh Brener.
On December 13, Carry-On will have its worldwide premiere on Netflix. In the meantime, why not explore some other gripping psychological thrillers available on Netflix?
