People are worried about supermodel Janice Dickinson after she was seen in Los Angeles looking visibly swollen.
The 71-year-old former judge from America’s Next Top Model was spotted taking a relaxed walk, and her face appeared more rounded than it has recently.
Dressed in a relaxed outfit, including slippers, Dickinson appeared to be in good spirits.
This sighting happened while a legal case is still ongoing. Dickinson is suing ITV for $900,000, claiming a fall on the set of ‘I’m A Celebrity… South Africa’ in 2022 caused lasting changes to her appearance.
The celebrity had to withdraw from the South African version of the show after tripping and hurting her head and face while trying to find the bathroom in the dark.
Earlier this year, Dickinson posted shocking photos of her injuries, stating that a fall had permanently changed her appearance.
Sources claim that producers of I’m A Celebrity are now suggesting that Jane Dickinson may have caused her own fall, which adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing legal matter.
The company reportedly suggests Janice’s fall could have been avoided if she’d used the restroom before bedtime, and executives are now said to believe she is responsible for what happened.
According to documents reportedly filed in court and obtained by The Sun, attendees were told to use the restrooms and finish their tasks before going to bed.
Everyone agreed on the amount of lighting used at night on the first night, and no one raised any concerns.
The campsite had a simple, unchanging layout. The area around the campfire and benches was clear and level dirt, and this same smooth path continued all the way to the restrooms.
According to reports, Janice was trying to go around or over the campfire benches when she could have simply walked around them.
Daily Mail has contacted Janice’s representatives and ITV for comment.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m so sorry to hear about Janice’s accident. Apparently, after tripping in the dark, she sustained some really serious facial injuries. It’s heartbreaking, but reports indicate she’s been left with permanent scars across her lips, mouth, cheeks, chin, and lower face. It sounds incredibly painful and I’m sending her all my best wishes for healing and recovery.
She also claimed that a medic working for ITV gave her sleep medication around the time she fell.
According to legal documents, this medication can cause sleepiness and make it hard to stay steady, which could be especially dangerous for her when she’s moving around at night.
People close to the celebrity say her injuries have also impacted her work as a model.
According to a source speaking to The Sun, the damage to her face is permanent and cannot be fixed with treatments.
Doctors state that Janice has lasting facial scars, disfigurement, and nerve damage that cannot be fixed with surgery.
As a longtime admirer of Janice, I was absolutely heartbroken to hear what she’s been through. She’s been such an iconic figure in the modeling world for decades – truly a legend, having graced the campaigns of Chanel, Dior, and Versace, among others. It’s just devastating to think about the pain she must be experiencing right now.
The publication received documents that were submitted to the High Court in London by the law firm Taylor Hampton.
Janice is now seeking compensation from ITV, arguing they are legally responsible. Sources say she believes her fall was caused by a combination of sleep medication and the dimly lit environment of the camp.
The fashion icon first appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2007 and then returned for a special edition of the show in South Africa in 2023.
Janice likely tripped and fell in the dark because one of the camp’s night lights wasn’t turned on. Reports suggest she got up in the early morning to use the restroom and fell while navigating the dark campsite.
ITV confirmed they’ve received and looked at a claim letter from Janice Dickinson. They emphasized that the safety and well-being of everyone involved in their shows is their top concern, and they have strong safety procedures in place.
We disagree with this account of what happened. However, we did provide care for Dickinson while she was with us, covered all her medical bills, and arranged for her flight back to Los Angeles. Throughout the seven months following her return to America and until after the show finished airing, the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ team consistently communicated with Dickinson and her representatives.
Managers are also worried this situation might encourage other injured contestants to sue, and it could mean future participants on ‘I’m A Celebrity’ will have to sign legal agreements before appearing on the show.
Even though Janice has said she’d happily go back on ‘I’m A Celeb’ if invited, she’s still facing a legal challenge.
The celebrity revealed these details on the ‘Reality TV On Record’ podcast, more than a year after she was on the South African edition of the show.
She expressed her strong appreciation for the show, clarifying that she really enjoys its concept, the cast, and the work of the production team behind the scenes.
When asked: ‘If they phone you again, would you go back?’ she replied: ‘Absolutely.’
After being removed from the show and receiving medical attention, Janice reportedly felt deeply hurt and upset when some of her fellow contestants called her a ‘witch’.
When Helen Flanagan read Emily Dickinson’s goodbye note after leaving the show, former England cricket captain Phil Tufnell jokingly said she’d signed it ‘with her broomstick’.
His remark prompted laughter from Joe Swash, Dean Gaffney and Myleene Klass.
According to a source speaking to the Daily Mail, Janice was deeply surprised and upset by comments Phil made, particularly because she had previously publicly thanked him for supporting her after an injury.
Everyone assumed it was just a minor fall. But it was much more serious – she hadn’t simply scraped herself. She had deep wounds on her face, bleeding from four different places, and the amount of blood was terrifying, like something from a horror movie.
Oh my god, when I saw what happened to her, my heart just broke! She was clearly so scared and hurt, and as someone who’s been through things, I just know how much a fall can mess with your head, not just your body. Honestly, I don’t even like her that much sometimes, but those comments were just awful – totally unnecessary! And then to see Joe and Myleene laughing? I was floored! I always thought they were kinder than that, it just wasn’t a good look at all. It really upset me, seeing her so shaken and them acting like that.
Janice was shocked that those comments were broadcast and appalled by the underlying ageism and sexism. She pointed out that older women are often unfairly labeled, while young women rarely face the same negative stereotypes.
After Janice was bitten, she needed three rabies shots. Initially, ITV didn’t want to pay for the treatment, according to The Sun.
She also claimed they failed to contact her directly once she had returned home to Los Angeles.
Janice shared with the publication that ITV should be held accountable for what happened. She described being severely injured, with a bloody and cut-up face, and said that staff left her bleeding in the dark for ten minutes. She feels ITV failed to provide the care and support they were obligated to offer.
After the accident, the model explained to The Sun’s TV Mag that she felt really uneasy because the campfire had gone out, leaving it completely dark. She decided to walk to the outhouse, hoping she could find her way from memory.
I took a few steps and suddenly tripped, falling forward onto my face. I scraped my chin, got a bloody nose, and my forehead was covered in hair.
I was bleeding heavily from multiple wounds, and my face was covered in dirt and small rocks from the impact of the fall.
She described feeling a terrible headache, rating the pain around a nine out of ten, and just lying there, groaning. She said the whole thing was a sudden, unexpected accident.
