Janet Jackson's rep claims to be fired after Kamala Harris is not Black apology drama gets even more puzzling

As I read through this article, I found myself deeply moved by Kamala Harris‘ extraordinary journey and resilience. Born to parents of Indian and Jamaican descent, she embodies the rich tapestry of America’s multicultural fabric. Her story is one of strength, determination, and unwavering commitment to justice – qualities that are as inspiring as they are rare.

Mo Elmasri, who identified himself as such, claims he lost his job with Janet Jackson following a recent uproar about comments she made regarding Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ heritage.

After representatives for the 58-year-old singer, whose brothers were part of the Jackson Five (known for hits like “Blame It On The Boogie)”), informed Variety on Sunday, Elmasri made comments without having obtained proper authorization from Jackson himself.

In a statement sent to The Daily Beast, Elmasri said that he was let go by Janet Jackson following disputes among them, Randy Jackson (her brother and manager), and himself. These disagreements reportedly ensued after Janet’s meeting with The Guardian and some unbalanced comments she made, according to Elmasri. He added that this is all he can disclose about the situation.

Elmasri explained that he was unable to take phone calls because he was overwhelmed with a high volume of incoming calls about the issue. Furthermore, he expressed his support for Kamala Harris.

On Sunday, Reps for Jackson clarified to TMZ that Elmasri holds no association with the Control artist.

As reported by the source, an individual who claimed to be Elmasri allegedly provided Buzzfeed with incorrect information when he stated that he served as the singer’s representative during the apology for the comments regarding the vice president.

Janet Jackson wishes to make clear her previous remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris’ ethnicity. She acknowledges these comments were founded on incorrect information.

Janet goes on to express her respect for Harris’ mixed heritage, which includes being both Black and Indian, and offers an apology for any misunderstanding that may have arisen.

I’m deeply captivated by the rich tapestry of diversity Harris embodies, and I wholeheartedly recognize its significance in our current world. In my fervor, I strive tirelessly to champion unity and foster understanding.

For several years, the entertainer who hails from Gary, Indiana, has been under the management of her sibling Randy, according to Variety. The news outlet mentioned that the family is currently in mourning following the passing of Tito Jackson on September 15, and as such, they were unable to provide comments at this time.

In his iMDb biography, Elmasri is identified as an Egyptian filmmaker who heads 24 East Agency, a consulting firm. It’s noted that he currently serves as a creative consultant for numerous international celebrities such as Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Selena Gomez.

On the website, Elmasri is recognized as an executive producer for Janet Jackson: Family First, and also held unnamed positions as creative director in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and trainee assistant director on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019).

Jackson stirred up a storm on social media after she openly shared her contentious opinions regarding the potential Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidency in an interview with The Guardian.

“She stated: ‘Apparently, it’s been mentioned that she isn’t African American. Instead, it’s claimed she’s of Indian descent because her father is white. I haven’t followed the news recently, but I’ve heard this information.’

Speaking as a lifestyle enthusiast, I found myself compelled to address the recent flurry of controversy surrounding some remarks made by a popular artist that echoed similar statements from the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In response to this, I issued a statement clarifying my position on the matter to Buzzfeed.

The statement attributed to Elmasri did not go over well with everyone.

One X user posted: ‘Janet Jackson sounded an absolute fool in that interview and I am very disappointed. We are less than 50 days away from the election. We gotta talk smarter!’

On platform X, a user commented: ‘Janet Jackson has significantly impacted the world of music. However, it was careless and inappropriate for her to share something she heard about an issue that’s often exploited against Vice President Kamala Harris, given her ethnicity.’

Born in the year 1964, Harris is a 59-year-old individual. Her parents were Dr. Shyamala Gopalan, an Indian-born researcher in cancer studies, and Donald J. Harris, who hailed from Jamaica and was a professor specializing in economics. The couple got married in the year 1963 and parted ways in 1971, having already welcomed Kamala as well as her younger sister Maya, now 57 years old.

In the year 2009, when he was 70 years old, Gopalan passed away due to cancer. On the other hand, Donald Harris, currently 86 years old, is a retired professor of economics at Stanford University, having stepped down in 1998.

In my professional opinion, throughout his illustrious career, my beloved late brother, Michael, experienced a unique predicament concerning his complexion that seemed to shift from its original Black hue towards a lighter tone. This transformation sparked much debate, with some speculating the use of skin-lightening agents. However, Michael consistently attributed this change to a health condition known as vitiligo and vehemently denied any such practices.

Trump allegedly stated at the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention in Chicago, held in July, that Harris appeared to have become Black during his speech.

He said: ‘She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.

It wasn’t until recently that I learned she identifies as Black. Her racial identity has changed over the years, and now she prefers to be recognized as such. However, I’m uncertain about her ethnic background; could she potentially be of Indian descent or is she Black?

‘I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went – she became a Black person. I think somebody should look into that too.’

Days later, I couldn’t help but shake off the comments, finding myself once again confronted by the familiar spectacle that is Trump – the division, the disregard. It’s like a tired act he keeps performing, one that never fails to stir up emotions within me as an ardent observer.

She added: ‘The American people deserve better.’

The vice president has yet to comment on Jackson’s remarks about her race.

Many conservative critics, including some of Trump’s loyal supporters, were displeased by Trump’s remarks about Vice President Harris’ race. They felt that instead of targeting her policy stances, he should have been more focused on those criticisms.

Earlier this month, Trump appeared to double down on his comments about Harris’ race.

‘I don’t care what she is. I don’t care. Whatever she wants to be is okay with me.’

According to surveys, the competition between Trump and Harris is extremely close, with the outcome of their contest still uncertain just one day before the election on November 5th.
