Janel Grant's attorneys allege Vince McMahon sent her to facility where she was medicated with unknown substances

As a fervent advocate for justice and equality, I find myself deeply moved by the harrowing tale of Janel Grant, a courageous woman who has been through unspeakable trauma at the hands of those she trusted. The latest developments in her legal battle against Dr. Carlon Colker and Peak Wellness have left me feeling both outraged and hopeful.

On Tuesday, lawyers for Janel Grant submitted a fresh complaint in the Connecticut court against Dr. Carlon Colker and Peak Wellness. The court documents accuse Dr. Colker of being on Vince McMahon‘s payroll, with claims that Grant was forced by McMahon to visit Peak Wellness no less than 60 times between 2019 and 2022 due to the stress and trauma she suffered from her abuse. The visits were allegedly enforced because Grant was experiencing symptoms related to severe stress and trauma stemming from her abuse.

As a gamer, I’ve recently learned that according to court documents, there were allegations about me being administered unidentified substances, some orally and others through injections. In July, my legal team submitted a request for full access to my electronic medical records, billing details, and any correspondence between Colker and McMahon regarding me. Both Colker and McMahon attempted to prevent this request from moving forward, but the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut denied McMahon’s attempt on August 6, 2024.

According to a statement by Grant’s team, patients have the legal right to their medical records under federal and state regulations such as HIPAA, the Cures Act, and Connecticut General Statutes § 20-7c. During a press briefing on Tuesday, attorney Ann Callis for Grant stated that following the filing of the discovery bill, Colker provided some information but it remains incomplete.

The new filing is asking for eight categories of records from Peak Wellness, including:

  • Ms. Grant’s electronic medical records, including all associated metadata;
  • Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ recordkeeping and billing procedures;
  • Payment records relating to Ms. Grant; Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness’ payment arrangements with McMahon and/or WWE;
  • The purpose of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
  • The substance of Ms. Grant’s prescribed treatments;
  • Any communications between Dr. Colker and McMahon relating to Ms. Grant; and
  • Dr. Colker’s involvement in recommending Ms. Grant’s attorney for negotiation of the purported non-disclosure agreement.

Tuesday’s document additionally verifies claims made in Grant’s initial lawsuit from January. In this lawsuit, she accused an employee of a healthcare facility of engaging in sexual acts involving McMahon and herself. According to the allegations, McMahon defecated on her during this encounter and compelled her to persist in performing a sexual act with the Peak Wellness staff member. The new filing claims that this employee was a physical therapist who repeatedly subjected her to sexual abuse.

‘Janel was desperate for medical help’

At a recent press briefing, Callis stated that Grant had attempted treatment but unfortunately did not recover; instead, his condition worsened. She emphasized that for over two years, Grant endured frequent abuse. In her distress, she yearned for medical attention and put her trust in qualified professionals to handle her care with the highest level of gravity. However, Dr. Colker breached medical and ethical codes and regularly betrayed the doctor-patient bond essential for appropriate treatment.

When Janel required medical attention due to Vince McMahon’s alleged sexual and emotional abuse, McMahon directed her to a clinic called Peak Wellness. Unfortunately, one of her abusers was employed there as a physical therapist during the time Janel was receiving treatment from November 2019 to April 2022. It is also reported that an additional individual involved in the incident where McMahon allegedly defecated on Janel’s head and coerced her into further sexual acts with this Peak Wellness employee.

Erica Nolan, the attorney, stated that Grant has been attempting to retrieve her records since February. They suspect that Colker is withholding these records because they could potentially implicate him and Peak Wellness in McMahon’s mistreatment, exploitation, and violent acts towards Janel. These documents are crucial in determining whether Dr. Colker participated in a civil conspiracy, falsified medical records, aided and abetted fraud, violated RICO, conspired to violate RICO, assaulted, battered, breached his fiduciary duty against Janel, and could lead to further legal actions against him.

“Our goal is to bring justice by holding everyone involved in Janel’s abuse fully responsible according to legal limits, so that those who instigated, maintained, hid, and profited from it can’t harm anyone else in the future. Janel requests a swift resolution of all cases and is open to further charges being brought by federal authorities. Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness, similarly to McMahon, Laurinaitis, and WWE, have also fallen short in their duty towards Janel.

During a prolonged period of severe trauma inflicted by McMahon and Laurinaitis through sexual abuse and human trafficking, Janel was subjected to unspecified treatments at a clinic where one of her abusers was employed. It is only just that Janel gets her day in court, it is only just that she receives justice.

‘We will not leave any stone unturned’

At the press conference, Callis was questioned about whether the WWE Board was aware of Grant’s 60 visits to Peak Wellness. However, Callis expressed uncertainty as Grant was accessible for an interview during the internal investigation conducted by the Board, but she found out later that the investigation had been concluded and cleared without her being spoken to.

In response to being questioned, Callis stated that they are pursuing the necessary records since they suspect that there might be severe accusations related to sex trafficking, which could potentially be added to their existing lawsuit, concerning Colker and/or Peak Wellness’s possible involvement with McMahon.

McMahon has ties to influential individuals. When asked if any of these prominent figures could avoid involvement in the trial, Callis replied that they initiated the lawsuit aware of McMahon’s identity. “We assure you we will leave no stone unturned as we strive for justice for Janel. We won’t be deterred.” (Paraphrased)

Grant’s lawsuit was stayed due to the Department of Justice’s own investigation. The stay is in place until December 2024.
