Jane Seymour, 73, shares the unexpected perk of aging in Hollywood
Jane Seymour has revealed a surprising benefit to being over 65 in Hollywood.
The 73-year-old actress shared that the older she gets, the more interesting her roles are.
She made the comments when at the AARP Movies for Grownups awards over the weekend.
As I grew older, the roles became increasingly captivating, and I found myself utilizing every facial muscle to bring them to life, she shared with People.
She enjoys the roles she’s been given a lot, and when it comes to character roles, which she is currently doing, she prefers ones that have an appealing and enjoyable quality.
She playfully commented, ‘Now, I feel quite at ease with the ability to grow older, younger, or simply move in different directions.’
She pointed out that movie “East of Eden” from 1981, where she portrayed Cyrus Trask, was significant for her. Remarkably, this role spanned from when she was just 13 to the age of 60, although at that time, she herself was only 30 years old.
She shared with the outlet that from a young age, she’s always been quite agile, playing roles beyond her years in various activities.
Jane presented the award for Best Documentary to Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.
The film follows the life of her late co-star in 1980’s Somewhere in Time, Christopher Reeve.
She described the Superman star, who died in 2004 at age 52, as a ‘real life Superman.’
Seymour remarked, “He seems to be teaching us that everyone encounters difficulties in life, with some dealing with more than others.
Acceptance can be the most challenging task, but once achieved, it opens the door to compassion. By extending a helping hand to another, you’ll discover your purpose.
That’s the key to experiencing true happiness. Furthermore, having a clear sense of purpose allows you to take pride in who you are.
She noted that when you have high self-esteem, you’re much like an attractive magnet. People are naturally drawn to you because they desire to connect with something positive and uplifting.

On more than one occasion, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman has shared her thoughts on aging, drawing from her extensive experience in Hollywood over the years.
At The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Gala, she shared some of the insights she’d accumulated throughout her professional journey, by conversing with attendees.
She expressed to the news platform on Wednesday that one shouldn’t assume things are simple; rather, maintaining a positive image and behaving appropriately carries significant importance, unfortunately.
She suggested that senior actresses should stay authentic and refrain from trying to portray themselves as young adults.
However, I’ve always persisted, and now, in my seventies, I find myself back with my own series once more, starring in Harry Wild. Jane emphasized this point.
To all the women out there, ‘Never lose hope and stay true to yourself.’ Embrace who you are at every age, instead of trying to resemble someone younger.
Seymour currently stars on the Irish dramedy series Harry Wild, which has been airing since 2022.
Seymour has previously been awarded an Emmy, specifically in 1988 at the Primetime Emmys, where she was recognized for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Special. This accolade came from her portrayal of Maria Callas in Onassis: The Richest Man in the World.

Apart from that, she has six grown-up kids: Jenni (age 44), Katherine (age 42), Sean (age 39), Kalen (age 56 – a typo, possibly meant 26 or 27), and twins John and Kristopher (both 29 years old).
Seymour is currently in a relationship with the musician John Zambetti, aged 75, who’s been a part of the band The Malibooz for many years, delivering performances for decades.
In the past, I’ve been married four times: to Michael Attenborough from 1971 to 1973, followed by a brief marriage with Geoffrey Planer between 1977 and 1978. Then, I was wed to David Flynn for over a decade, from 1981 until 1992. My most recent union was with James Keach, which lasted from 1993 up until 2015.
She shared with The Times that even though there were divorces, she has maintained incredibly strong bonds with all the men she was married to as well as every man she’s ever dated.
