Jane McDonald, 61, dazzles in a dramatic gown with HUGE headpiece for her role as Maid Marion at star-studded opening of pantomime Robin Hood at London’s Palladium

As I delve into Jane’s captivating life story, I am struck by her resilience and zest for living. Her journey, marked by loss and heartache, is a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of our existence and the importance of cherishing every moment.

On Thursday evening, after the glitzy premiere of pantomime Robin Hood at London’s Palladium, Jane McDonald exuded stunning elegance as she gracefully took her curtain call.

The 61-year-old singer and TV personality, known for her role as Maid Marion, was accompanied on stage by fellow actors Julian Clary (age 65), Nigel Havers (age 73), and Marisha Wallace (age 39).

Jane was elegantly dressed in an extraordinary costume, featuring a striking, shimmering gown adorned with a golden cape.

After that, she donned a corresponding large accessory and smiled broadly as she flung open her arms to express gratitude towards the audience for their enthusiastic cheers.

After the performance, Jane changed into a shimmering gold sequined blouse and well-fitted black pants for the subsequent gathering.

Amongst the glittering crowd, I found myself nestled alongside the legendary Alison Hammond from “This Morning”, the radiant and stern-eyed Shirley Ballas, head judge of “Strictly”, and the vivacious Vanessa Feltz, all three shining stars in their prime.

In September, Jane found it hard to suppress her laughter during an incredibly amusing exchange with the hosts, Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, on The One Show.

During a chat on the BBC’s daytime program, the previous Loose Women cast member found herself puzzled by a peculiar idiom used in the conversation.

She was on the show to discuss her new book and how her family helped mould her career.

Jane said, “I’ve consistently held the view that it’s important to express yourself, understand your limits, and value yourself. And I truly stand by that belief.

However, things took a turn when presenter Alex jokingly quipped: ‘That’s a great piece of advice. It’s a bit early, to mention the C-word.’

After a brief pause, Jane nodded, as Alex clarified that she had meant ‘Christmas’.

Ah!” Jane chuckled, surprised, as she quickly extended her hand and touched Danny O’Donoghue’s knee, a fellow guest from The Script.

The studio burst out in bouts of laughter, and Danny jokingly added: “Remember when you asked me to avoid cursing?

Alex playfully said, ‘I see something amiss with everyone!’ However, folks are going to rejoice, Jane, as you’ll be gracing the Palladium stage for a pantomime this Christmas.

The humorous incident occurred right prior to Jane making an appearance on Lorraine on a Tuesday morning. There, she shared honestly about her experiences of being bullied in school, dealing with grief, and living alongside her dearest friend Sue.

Sharing her challenging school years with host Lorraine Kelly, the vocalist confessed, “There were hardships throughout my schooling, but I appear to possess a particular characteristic; it shaped me into who I am today.

If you’re currently facing challenges, know that there’s a brighter future ahead. I’ve learned to identify bullies quickly now and effectively counter their actions.

She also revealed that living with her friend is ‘the best thing ever,’ gushing that ‘she’s a great cook’.

Jane said: ‘She does my hair and makeup, she puts the bins out, she’s absolutely hilarious.’

Apart from discussing other topics on her TV show, the host shared insights about the possibility of rediscovering romance following the death of her longtime companion, Eddie Roth, who sadly passed away at 61 years old in 2021.

She explained: ‘I’ve had Mr. Wonderful and I’ve been extremely lucky.

I’m not ruling out dating again forever; should another Mr. Wonderful appear, I won’t send him packing.

As a lifestyle guru, I’d say, “Ten years after my departure, I found myself back on Loose Women, and the outpouring of fan support left me truly humbled.

Prior to being with her partner Eddie, Jane had experienced the loss of her father in 1993 and later, in 2018, her mother – whom she resided with until she turned 45 – passed away.

On the panel discussion, Jane expressed her feelings as follows: “Given the chance, I’d instantly reunite my mother and Ed. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible. It’s crucial to understand that life moves forward, and I choose to embrace it. I cherish life deeply.

‘I’m unsure of how much time remains, and it’s unfortunate that Ed passed away at such a young age. In light of this, I wish to accomplish all the things I desire. I am determined to press on and take along my dreams with me.’

Jane sadly lost her partner amidst the peak of the COVID-19 crisis. Although talking about it is difficult, she underscored her gratitude for the moments they shared together.
