Jana Duggar reveals why she was ‘disheartened’ leading up to her wedding to Stephen Wissmann

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share the sentiments of the 34-year-old Counting On star. She confessed to feeling a sense of disappointment for not having tied the knot sooner in her life, leaving her wondering if perhaps there was an issue that needed addressing.
Her confession was made following her marriage to Stephen Wissmann, a Bible studies leader, who is 31 years old, in the town of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, on Thursday, August 15th. This event took place with more than 500 people attending as witnesses.
Just hours before her wedding ceremony, Jana reminisced about moments when she doubted if she would ever meet her soulmate, as she shared in an interview with PEOPLE.
As she grew older, she found that the romantic feelings became stronger and stronger, and it seemed as if they weren’t working out. She began to ponder whether she was meant for something different, perhaps there was another path for her to follow. This is how she described her love life before meeting Stephen.
Jana shared that without getting married, she intends to find contentment by pursuing further education, specifically by joining a nursing program.
She mentions that it’s another area she’s passionate about, and she thought to herself, “Perhaps this is the path I should follow, and I’ll fully immerse myself in it.”
Even though she explored different relationships, it seemed no one could hold my heart for good. I found myself pondering, “Could it be something about me? Am I the issue here?”
In the second semester of my nursing school journey, I experienced a turn for the better when I reconnected with Stephen, whom I had a brief fling with back in 2011.
She confided that I’d been more hesitant about it, but as time passed, I appreciated his personality, his return, and the fact that he continued to love me despite everything.
It seems we come from a rather large, unconventional family and manage to endure quite a bit. Frankly, it’s not common for people to stick together as we do.
‘He must really, genuinely care about me,’ she said to the outlet.
She mentioned that every couple’s journey towards marriage is unique, and then shared that for quite some time, she has harbored dreams of having a beautiful, storybook-like wedding.
Jana expressed that she’s longed for this situation for decades, often feeling frustrated as if to ask, “What’s the hold-up? Why can’t I find…” Most of her siblings got married in their early twenties, which she discussed about her family and emotions.
Before her marriage, her romantic experiences could sometimes be discouraging, but looking back, she understands that these experiences nurtured inner peace and maturity within her through her faith.
She mentioned that she has had the opportunity to bond with numerous family members and friends, as well as engage in activities, which many individuals who got married at a young age haven’t experienced due to their early commitment.
Despite my efforts to focus on the bright side, it seems you’re yearning for a particular individual, someone who could share your life’s journey with you.
‘It has been hard, but it has been good and God’s taught me a lot through it all,’ she admitted.
And she is happier than ever with Stephen, who she was engaged to for three years.
“She expressed her admiration by saying, ‘His unwavering presence, whether in good times or bad, makes him more than just a friend. Over the years, he hasn’t forced me into many situations, showing great understanding.'”
Regarding their post-wedding arrangements, Jana made it clear that she intends to relocate to Nebraska to reside with Stephen, who has secured a job in the irrigation system installation sector.
