As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the art of acting and the longevity of careers, I am thrilled about the prospect of Jamie Lee Curtis taking on the iconic role of Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote in a new feature film. The synergy between the two actresses, both talented and versatile, is palpable, and I have no doubt that this reimagining will be as captivating as the original.

Discussions are underway for Jamie Lee Curtis to potentially assume the legendary role initially portrayed by Angela Lansbury in the upcoming “Murder She Wrote” movie.

As a connoisseur of life’s finer aspects, I must pay tribute to Angela Lansbury, who left us in 2022 at the ripe age of 96. She will always be remembered for her captivating portrayal of Jessica Fletcher, the enigmatic author and amateur detective, in the beloved American crime drama series, Murder, She Wrote. This mesmerizing show graced our screens for an impressive 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996.

It’s been reported that Oscar-winning actor Curtis, aged 66, is currently in preliminary discussions for taking on the role of Fletcher in a movie produced by Universal Pictures. This project will be overseen by producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal.

The script is from Dumb Money writers Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Curtis gained fame for playing Laurie Strode across various films within the Halloween movie series.

In 2023, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Deirdre Beaubeirdre in the movie titled Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Angela Lansbury received a total of ten Golden Globe nominations for her performance on Murder She Wrote, making history by winning four awards, which is the highest number of nominations and victories for Best Actress in a TV Drama Series.

Apart from being celebrated for her work on the successful television series, she also earned an impressive 12 Emmy Award nominations – a record-breaking number for the most nominations in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. However, despite this remarkable achievement, she has yet to win the award.

The show was nominated for three Emmys in the Outstanding Drama Series category and also earned six Golden Globe nominations in the same field. It ended up winning two significant awards.

Enthusiasts were thrilled with the choice of cast, with one expressing: “Jamie Lee Curtis could handle any role, and I bet even Queen Angela would agree!

A second typed: ‘I can see it’ while a third wrote: ‘I would love to see that movie!!!’

Beyond her acclaimed performances on the popular CBS show, Lansbury additionally garnered international recognition by taking on diverse roles in both theater and film productions.

Her voice became widely recognized across the globe following her contribution to the beloved character Mrs. Potts in Disney’s 1991 animated film, Beauty and the Beast.

She is survived by her three children and three grandchildren.

In 2013, she was honored with an Honorary Academy Award, a recognition that came after three nominations for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. These nominations were for her performances in Gaslight (1944), The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945), and The Manchurian Candidate (1962).

Across both large and small stages, Lansbury earned legendary status. She walked on various Broadway sets, accumulating five Tony Awards for her performances, along with a lifetime achievement award.

Initially appearing set for stardom in Hollywood, given two Oscar nominations within her first three film roles, many believed Lansbury would become a prominent leading lady. Yet, she disclosed later that due to her mature persona, producers often typecast her into elderly roles instead.

Lansbury made a name for herself in both Hollywood and Broadway, having a career that lasted an impressive eight decades and started when she was a teenager, working alongside some of the industry’s biggest names. She landed her first significant film role only four years after leaving war-torn London at age 14 to pursue her acting dreams.

Following a relocation to New York from their home in the UK with her acting mother, Lansbury immersed herself in her passion for drama. At just 17 years old, she made a stunning debut in the film industry when she secured her first role in the 1944 thriller Gaslight, sharing the screen with esteemed Hollywood stars such as Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer.

One day, I was neatly packaging Christmas presents at a retail store, and just moments later, I found myself acting alongside Ingrid Bergman. It was almost like a miracle, as I shared this story with the Daily Mail about my rapid rise to fame.

Eventually, the job led to her signing a contract with MGM and receiving her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. This was followed by another nomination the next year for The Portrait of Dorian Gray. These accolades marked the start of a distinguished career on stage and screen, where she had the privilege of working alongside legends like Gene Kelly and Katharine Hepburn.

In 1949, the actress got married to actor Peter Shaw, a union that endured for an impressive 53 years, coming to an end with his passing due to heart failure in 2003.

The duo embraced parenthood by having two kids: their son Anthony (born in 1952) and daughter Deirdre (born in 1953). Additionally, Lansbury took on the role of stepmother to David, who was Shaw’s child from a prior relationship.

In my own words, I’d express it like this: “Once upon a time, I proudly claimed our bond as ‘perfect’. His passing left me shattered. We were more than just partners at work or husband and wife; we were deeply intertwined lovers too. I can’t fully comprehend how our marriage endured for so long, but the truth was, we were deeply devoted to each other.
