Jamie Laing’s Tinnitus Nightmare: Health Update Revealed
On a recent Instagram post, Jamie Laing opened up about his ongoing struggle with tinnitus, referring to it as a challenging ordeal.
36-year-old former Made In Chelsea star realized he had tinnitus only after recognizing that he hadn’t experienced true silence for the past eight years.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve found myself drawing an analogy with my personal experience – it’s as if there’s a persistent, high-pitched sound in my ears, much like the tone of a dog whistle that’s consistently there.
The primary indicator of tinnitus is perceiving a noise resembling ringing or humming, yet this sound does not originate externally.
Tinnitus isn’t always easily traced back to a specific cause, though it frequently appears connected to hearing impairment or other related issues such as depression and anxiety.
And in a recent update, Jamie told fans that his symptoms have worsened over the past few weeks.

In a different phrasing: “Dear Tinnitus, I’ve been living with this persistent ringing in my ears for about eight years. Though I’ve learned to cope and manage it over time, occasionally it rears its unwelcome head, much like an intrusive alarm bell in my mind (a nod to other fellow sufferers).
For the last few days, it’s been like an ongoing alarm clock. It’s almost impossible not to dwell on it, and it feels like a terrifying nightmare!
‘It is however good to listen to it and use it as an alarm, you’re tired, stressed, anxious maybe.
However, instead of viewing it as a foe, consider it as a friend attempting to convey a message. That’s the approach I am adopting.
Writing this note is beneficial due to the fact that discussing such a noisy situation becomes significantly easier.
I’m hoping that this message finds another person who may be struggling with similar issues, whether it’s a difficult day, week, month, or an ongoing challenge.
Jamie attributes his tinnitus to frequent visits to noisy nightclubs without ear protection, and he thinks his anxiety might be exacerbating the issue as well.
Based on advice from the NHS, this condition typically isn’t a cause for concern that requires immediate attention, but it might improve on its own. However, it’s still advisable to consult your General Practitioner (GP) for their professional opinion.

Previously, Jamie recounted the moment he became aware of his tinnitus – a bothersome high-pitched sound akin to a buzzing noise – as he awakened one morning.
He informed The Daily Mail that he searched throughout the house, but didn’t discover any source of the sound. However, it dawned on him later that the sound was actually originating from within his own head.
The sound was reminiscent of a TV’s persistent static from another part of the house. After I initially picked up on it, that continuous droning echoed within my mind.
In Jamie’s situation, his doctor mentioned several potential reasons, but it seems like excessive noise from nightclubs is the most plausible explanation for him.
As a dedicated enthusiast, I was told by my trusted physician that there’s no instant remedy in sight, yet it might naturally fade over time as I grow accustomed to it. Fortunately, there are supportive measures designed to assist me in coping with this situation, until it eventually resolves itself.
Initially, I found it hard to accept that I could suffer from tinnitus, as I believed it primarily affected older individuals or those exposed to explosive noises. However, it’s more prevalent than many realize. In my youth, I attended numerous festivals and concerts, and enjoyed blasting music through headphones – the louder, the better.
However, I’ve neither been close to concert speakers nor played in a band. Instead, I’ve attended several festivals with loud music, yet I rarely used earplugs.
‘I wish I had now — protecting your ears against loud noise is so important.’
