Jamie Laing admitted his wife is far more exhausted than he is, following criticism of a social media post that many felt created unfair expectations for new mothers. He had been praising his wife, Sophie Habboo, when the post drew backlash.
Last month, the 37-year-old Made In Chelsea star shared online how Sophie, 31, had made Christmas feel ‘magical’ only three weeks after welcoming their son, Ziggy.
However, people online quickly criticized the post, calling it insensitive and a predictable attempt to only showcase the highlights of the day.
Jamie recently shared an honest post explaining that taking care of their baby boy, while tiring, wasn’t as exhausting as it was for his wife.
Jamie posted a video on Instagram Tuesday showing himself doing squats while holding his new baby in the kitchen.
He shared a new rule he’d learned as a father: no matter how exhausted you feel, your wife is always more tired.

Jamie received a lot of supportive responses from mothers who agreed with him. One mother commented, ‘You’re definitely not getting as little sleep as she is, but you’re still doing great!’
‘You learn FAST Jaime! Your marriage will endure the test of time’;
It’s completely true! She’s recovering from both pregnancy and childbirth while simultaneously caring for a new baby.
‘Every woman sending this post to their husbands…’
Jamie’s recent post seems like an attempt to make amends after receiving criticism from ‘momfluencers’ before the holidays.
He received a lot of negative feedback from fans, including one message that said his recent post was insensitive and put unfair pressure on new mothers. The commenter explained that not everyone can afford or manage to do what was shown in the post, as it requires money, help, and resources.
I don’t think this is healthy or a genuine interaction. It seems focused on trying to make others happy rather than on real healing and building meaningful connections.
‘My first Xmas when I was 3 weeks PP I slept most the day.’

Some people wondered if the couple had hired caterers or other professionals to assist them.
Sophie and Jamie announced the birth of their son on December 4, 2025 with sweet hospital snaps.
I always say, those first few weeks with a new baby are pure magic! I recently saw some lovely photos of Jamie and Sophie – one showed Jamie with his arm around Sophie as she lovingly held their little one, and another was just Sophie completely smitten with the baby. It really captured that sweet, intimate bond you have when you become parents.
Days after Ziggy arrived, the couple checked into the UK’s leading postpartum wellness retreat.
The new parents shared a photo on Instagram after checking into a luxurious resort in London’s Hyde Park, part of the five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel, where rooms cost around £2,000 per night.
I’m so thrilled for Jamie and Sophie! They’ve checked into what looks like an amazing room, and Tenth Wellness is providing round-the-clock babysitters, which is just fantastic. It means they can actually have some proper downtime and relax – they deserve it!
The couple indulged in luxurious experiences, including three Michelin-starred meals daily, and unlimited access to the hotel’s premier spa and beauty services.
Before Ziggy’s birth, Sophie had shared how she was not going to allow anyone to kiss her child.

On their podcast, Sophie made it clear she doesn’t want anyone kissing her baby. She stated firmly that if someone kisses her newborn, she will physically confront them.
Jamie laughed as Sophie added: ‘Please do not come near my baby and risk giving my baby germs.’
She continued, looking at Jamie, and said he had previously told her, ‘No, but that woman said we should boost their immune systems with kisses, even from strangers,’ which continues to bother her and keep her up at night.
Jamie chuckled and responded, “No way am I going to do that! Someone told me you have to ‘let them get dirty,’ so I jokingly said we should just take them outside and cover them in mud.”
Trying not to laugh, Sophie recounted to the cameras what he’d said: ‘He actually said we should just put the baby in the mud and not wash it off. I thought, that’s definitely not a good idea for a newborn.’
