Jamie Laing jokingly referenced his ‘dad bod’ in a sweet video with his baby son on Monday. This came after he received some criticism for a previous post where he praised his wife, Sophie Haboo, as a ‘superwoman’.
I was so thrilled to hear that Jamie, from Made In Chelsea, became a dad last month! He and Sophie recently welcomed their little boy, Ziggy, and I couldn’t be happier for them both. It’s wonderful to see them start this new chapter as parents.
Jamie playfully shared on Instagram that he’s starting to get his pre-baby body back, after his wife, Sophie, teased him for wishing he hadn’t lost it.
The video featured the celebrity cradling his son, with a caption reading, ‘I long for how I used to look before you were born.’
The camera then showed Sophie looking unamused, and a message appeared on screen saying, ‘Seriously? You’re his dad, go to the gym!’
Jamie aptly captioned his post: ‘Dad bod era incoming.’

Jamie has been happily posting about being a dad, but he recently received criticism for a post some people felt created unrealistic standards for new mothers.
Last month, he shared on social media how Sophie made Christmas feel magical, especially considering she’d given birth to their son, Ziggy, just three weeks prior.
However, people online quickly criticized the post, calling it insensitive and a typical example of only sharing the highlights of someone’s day on Instagram.
He received a lot of negative feedback from fans, with one person writing that while they usually enjoy his content, this particular post was insensitive and put unfair pressure on new mothers. They explained that not everyone has the financial means, help, or support needed to achieve what was shown.
I don’t think this is healthy or a genuine interaction. It seems focused on trying to make others happy rather than focusing on real healing and building meaningful connections.
‘My first Xmas when I was 3 weeks PP I slept most the day.’
Others questioned whether the couple had outside help from caterers or other paid professionals.
After receiving criticism, Jamie posted on Instagram, admitting he could never understand how exhausted his wife was.

Jamie shared a clip of him performing squats whilst holding his newborn in the kitchen.
He shared a new rule he’d learned as a father: no matter how exhausted you feel, your wife is always more tired.
Jamie received a lot of supportive messages from mothers who agreed with him. One mom commented, ‘You’re definitely not getting as little sleep as she is, but you’re still doing great!’
‘You learn FAST Jaime! Your marriage will endure the test of time’;
She’s right! She’s recovering from both pregnancy and childbirth while also caring for a new baby.
‘Every woman sending this post to their husbands…’
Sophie and Jamie announced the birth of their son on December 4, 2025 with sweet hospital snaps.
One photo showed Jamie with his arm around his wife as she held their new baby, and another featured just Sophie cradling the child.
