Jamie Laing gives sweet message of support to best pal Sam Thompson during his 260-mile endurance challenge – after Made In Chelsea star’s own gruelling charity marathon
Jamie Laing made a surprise motivational phone call to his good friend Sam Thompson during the fourth day of Sam’s 260-mile endurance test.
34-year-old celebrity from I’m A Celeb, participating in the Soccer Aid Challenge and already amassing £604,000, was greeted with an encouraging note from his ex-castmate on Made In Chelsea.
Having just completed a challenging charity marathon himself, Jamie, aged 36, could empathize perfectly with Sam’s feelings as he neared the halfway point.
In March, the BBC Radio 1 host captivated the entire nation by running 30 miles daily for five straight days, crossing the country and amassing a staggering £2.3 million in donations.
‘It’s day three baby, it’s the worst. It’s the worst’, Jamie laughed.

Sam screamed: ‘I can’t move man! My Leg!’
Jamie expressed: “Hey, I get where you’re coming from. I understand the struggle, and it feels like your body wants to quit. But every instance, persist and push through.
‘One foot in front of the other, you don’t stop.’
Sam’s eyes welled up: “Your appearance just now has truly brightened my day. I used to watch you run, and I always thought of you as an inspiration.
‘The fact that you’re just giving me your energy and your time man, I’m so grateful.’
Jamie expressed: “What you’re doing is absolutely fantastic and it’s for a truly worthy reason. Keep going, I really admire you, I care deeply for you, and all around, people support you – you’re incredible!
‘You got this Sam!’, Jamie’s wife Sophie Habboo cheered in the background.
To meet the task at hand, Sam is anticipated to participate in a five-day marathon run with cycling segments in between. The goal is to have the ball delivered by June 6 so it can be used during the kickoff on Sunday, June 15.

On the third day, he embarked from Villa Park in Birmingham, then traveled successively through Walsall, Cannock, Stafford, and Stone before reaching Vale Park in Stoke-on-Trent.
On Wednesday, Pete Wicks humorously imitated Zara McDermott’s well-known “you can!” scene from Made In Chelsea during the course of supporting Sam in his task.
Sam was surprised by Pete during the latest segment where he held up a sign and shouted to his pal.
The phrase ‘you can!’ comes from an unforgettable moment in the series Made In Chelsea, when Zara pleaded for Sam back after infidelity during her participation on Celebrity X Factor in 2019.
This year, Zara and Sam parted ways permanently, with Zara from Love Island currently pursuing a relationship with One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson.
On their “Staying Relevant” podcast TikTok account, a clip was posted showing Pete encouraging Sam with an excited exclamation of “You can!” This encouragement caused Sam to burst into laughter while riding his bicycle.
The sign said: “You’ve got this… You really CAN!” – just like how Zara encouraged Sam to forgive her for past indiscretions, Pete expressed his support in the same heartfelt manner.
Previously, Sam found himself shedding tears when his friend Pete surprised him, signifying the midpoint of a particularly grueling test he was enduring.

Sam, who had an injury on his calf that was quite severe, happened earlier in the week, wrapped his arms around his companion, who is 37 years old, and then expressed to TopMob that this reunion had truly made his day.
When Pete arrived, Sam was pleasantly surprised to spot a familiar face on the third day of his grueling 49-mile bicycle and running journey.
The popular television personality has been assigned an epic mission: to traverse a staggering 260 miles using bicycle and foot, aiming to transport the match ball to its upcoming residence at Old Trafford. This journey is undertaken with the objective of generating essential funds for Unicef.
He informed TopMob, ‘Spotting Pete halfway through the day really brightened it up for me. Even though I’m experiencing such intense pain, he’s managed to put a smile on my face.’
Before adding: ‘Please donate if you can, I’m so grateful for all the support’.
On the eve of Monday, Pete expressed a heartfelt appreciation for his friend on Instagram, stating: “Tomorrow, this individual will undertake a demanding mental and physical test for a worthy charity, @Unicef.
Friend, I am immensely proud of you in every aspect – as a friend, a sibling, and as an individual. I have no doubt that you will challenge yourself to your maximum potential, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing your successful completion of this immense undertaking.
‘I know how much work you’ve put in and I know you’re doing it for the right reasons’.

He went on to say: ‘Just a heads up, you have all your friends and family cheering you on every step of the way. I hope the country joins us in supporting your journey through donations and encouragement. You are an inspiration to me and many others, and I respect the man you’ve become this year more than any other time we’ve been acquainted. Best of luck, brother; you’re doing great!’
Despite a calf injury and clearance from the medical staff, the reality TV personality remained resolute, pushing ahead to see through the task at hand.
He shared: “This has been the toughest challenge I’ve faced in my lifetime. It seems I’ve injured my calf, making it extremely hard for me to run.
Despite any challenges that may arise, I will persist in my journey, using both feet and pedals. Regardless of the length or difficulty, I am determined to reach the finish line by Friday. My motivation for this endeavor remains unaltered. I fervently hope that people are finding the courage to support UNICEF, appreciating what I’m trying to achieve and joining me in this challenge.
Regarding Sam’s leg injury, road physio Gary Lewin commented: ‘Sam sustained a considerable calf injury. Yesterday, we eased the pressure on it by having him cycle instead, and in the afternoon he reported feeling somewhat better, so we attempted some light walking.’
‘He shouldn’t bear too much load on that part of his body. Today, let’s begin with a stroll and later move to cycling to see how it goes. He’s under good care, and the medical advice is he can carry on as usual.’
